Hershey recording has opened its doors to the public! What is Hershey Recording you say? Hershey recording is our recording studio. Anyone that knows me, understands that I have been in the music business longer than… well, let’s just say a looooong time. I have written and recorded on most mediums starting with the reel to reel recorder, (remember those things) all the way up to completely digita
l audio recording. So, I know a thing or two about all of the aspects of writing and recording music. The room is a loft on the second floor of my three car garage. It has just enough oblique angles to give the room a natural “live club” sound. This comes in very handy when recording acoustic instruments. The lighting system is what you would expect to see on a stage. Everything is better when the mood is right! We can accommodate a wide variety of musical styles from hip hop to death rock (is anybody still doing that) to jazz! The included instrumentation starts with a seven ply maple Mapex drum kit. It can be anywhere from a three piece to a seven piece. Crash, ride, and china symbols round the kit out. We have amp modeling for every amp from a ‘57 Fender Champ to a Soldano SLO-100, and everything in between. We even have some acoustic amp models for those that don’t want it old school “miked”. We have speaker cabinet models from the Fender ’57 eight inch to a boutique four by twelve slant with v30’s. If you fancy a fretless bass, we have a Dean active long scale available. We have direct boxes for anything you may want to bring in. Presonus, Presonus, Presonus. Everything is run through Presonus gear. Creamy smooth Presounus pre-amps managed by an 1818vsl into Studio one pro. Studio one provides you with an almost infinite channel and buss virtual Presonus mixer. But, garbage in garbage out right. Still no worries! We have a great Microphone cache. Large diaphragm, small diaphragm, condenser, and dynamic microphones are available. But are they good ones? Shure, Sennheiser, Akg, Electrovoice, Audix, and Studio projects all contribute to the great mix you will get here at Hershey Recording. Speaking of great mixes, JBL LRS 305’s are the reference monitor’s we use. These things are as neutral as the color beige. They reproduce ALL of the sound with no coloration! And, for monitoring during recording, we use AKG K 44 headphone sets. Your recording is finished! I thought you’d never ask! We can digitally park your music anywhere you want. Soundcloud, Itunes, CD baby, and on, it doesn’t matter. If you want hard copy of your work, we have access to mass production facilities. If you are going to record, you are going to want to protect your property rights also eh? We have a copyright service here that can keep that pressure off of you so you can, well, create!
