The term "gharara" refers to a type of women's trousers or pants that are wide-legged, flared, and pleated at the knee so they flare out dramatically. Traditionally worn by Muslim women of the Hindi-Urdu speaking regions, ghararas consist of a kurti (a short shirt or tunic), a dupatta (scarf), and the pants themselves.

The distinguishing feature of the "Tukri Gharara" is its elaborate and intricate patchwork, which involves piecing together different fabrics and patterns to create a unique and vibrant look.
