Our biggest project to carry out our mission is the production of the International Freethought Film Festival; an annual event that features independent films annually submitted to us by filmmakers. The film festival is a celebration of having the basic human right and civil liberty to express freethought concepts, and to educate the public on the importance of using reason and science (void of su

perstitions) to explain our natural world and improve upon the human condition. The International Freethought Film Festival has proven to be a breakthrough for a freethought niche in film, and has inspired freethinkers to embrace a new medium for promoting reason, critical thinking and freedom of inquiry. We feel strongly that rationalistic and artistic are not mutually exclusive.

We will be screening the full-length documentary, "The Sum Total of Our Memory: Facing Alzheimer's Together" ~Directed by Barbara Klutinis, on Sunday, May 15th at the International Freethought Film Festival at The Gallery at Avalon Island . The screening begins at noon. Passes for IFFF 2016 will soon be available.

3 (Three the Movie) Trailer

"3 (Three the Movie)" is an official selection of the 2016 International Freethought Film Festival. This full-length feature is an action film, directed by Anggy Umbara. It was submitted to us from Jakarta, Indonesia. "3 (Three the Movie)" will be screened on Saturday, May 14th at 8:00 pm at the The Gallery at Avalon Island in downtown Orlando, Florida. Synopsis: Indonesia in year 2036 have become a liberal country that focuses mainly on human rights. Religion is considered to have a negative image. Three childhood friends Alif, Lam and Mim who grew up in the same Islamic boarding house chose their own path. Alif becomes a special force for the country, Lam a journalist and Mim chooses to be theologian. They are forced to confront each other with their own version of truth after a bombing incident that leads back to Mim as the suspect.

"Shooting the Prodigal" Trailer

"Shooting the Prodigal" opens the 2016 International Freethought Film Festival in downtown Orlando, Florida at the The Gallery at Avalon Island on Friday, May 13th, 8:00 pm. Filmmaker Q&A to follow the screening, as director, David Powers will be in attendance! Shooting The Prodigal is the story of a brash, young Jewish filmmaker from New York who tries to help an overly zealous Baptist preacher in south Alabama make a movie about the Prodigal Son. In the process they both learn about the acceptance and love of the prodigal's father.

The 2016 International Freethought Film Festival will screen 25 independent films from May 13th-15th in downtown Orlando, Florida at The Gallery at Avalon Island. The International Freethought Film Festival is an annual celebration of freedom of expression. We boldly exercise this liberty by exploring the many facets of freethought ideals through the art of independent film. IFFF showcases films from around the globe that have the potential to start a dialogue on the importance of using reason and science (void of superstitions) to explain our natural world and improve upon the human condition. How do we define freethought? Simply put, freethought is the critical examination of truth-claims based on reason, logic and science. Claims and practices based on superstition, tradition, religious dogma, and/or because someone “important” said so are equally held to to this standard.
