Transparency is not just a courtesy. It is a moral obligation. Our Church leaders have a duty to tell people what is going on with their money, and Catholics have the right to know where their collection money is going.

So many of us that are suffering in any way have asked God to take away our suffering in prayer. He is all-good, all-powerful, all-loving, and we know that he is the Almighty Healer. So why doesn’t He just heal us then? Paul believes it is because His power is made perfect in weakness.

When Jesus is your job, you run the risk of reducing Jesus to a job, not God. Not a perfect, divine savior. Just like every job can become mundane, so can a Jesus job.

Catholics seem to be on two opposite sides of the spectrum when it comes to talking about s*x: it either isn’t spoken about, or it is made out to be the closest thing to heaven we can find while on Earth. While there is a time and place for both of these standpoints, I think we need to find, and t...

Like most millennials with student debt, I moved back in with my parents and had to deal with severe and sudden spiritual drop off. I had no community, no one my age, and no haven. I tried my very best to keep up my prayer life and go to daily Mass when I could, in addition to weekly Mass of course,...

What can I do, what can WE do, to ensure that women in this position do not feel as though abortion is the only or best choice? What can we do to help women avoid this trauma? The abortion conversation can no longer be just about the babies. If we claim to be pro-life, we need to be pro-mother as we...

I pray that your priest/deacon did not shy away from the long form of today’s second reading:

Brothers and sisters:
Be subordinate to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Wives should be subordinate to their husbands as to the Lord.
For the husband is head of his wife
just as Christ is head of the church,
he himself the savior of the body.
As the church is subordinate to Christ,
so wives should be subordinate to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives,
even as Christ loved the church
and handed himself over for her to sanctify her,
cleansing her by the bath of water with the word,
that he might present to himself the church in splendor,
without spot or wrinkle or any such thing,
that she might be holy and without blemish.
So also husbands should love their wives as their own bodies.
He who loves his wife loves himself.
For no one hates his own flesh
but rather nourishes and cherishes it,
even as Christ does the church,
because we are members of his body.
For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother
and be joined to his wife,
and the two shall become one flesh.
This is a great mystery,
but I speak in reference to Christ and the church.
-Ephesians 5:21-32

Why are we so afraid to be subordinate?
Why can we not agree that dying to ourselves can be a good thing, even beneficial?
We are called to be subordinate to our spouses, both husbands and wives. There will be moments for both.
Let us not shy away from self-sacrifice.

If you’d like more explanation of this reading be sure to listen to this week’s episode of the podcast. 🌹

It’s been a hot second, so how about some shall we?

🌿Hi, I’m Jenna, and I’ve been doing A Shower of Roses for over two years now, which is crazy.

🌿The first episode of the show actually came out the day before my husband proposed to me, and now we’ve been married for nearly 9 months!

🌿I work at a parish in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and it’s pretty great. I get to go to daily Mass every day.

🌿I love coffee but I’m not supposed to be drinking it. 😑 Decaf has become my friend.

🌿With the collaboration of several other wonderful Catholic podcasters, I started . You should definitely go listen and subscribe.

🌿I have traveled to France, Spain, Israel, and Canada, but my favorite place is still the Jersey shore (where this picture was taken).

That’s a bit about me! How is your day going friends?!

I remember sitting in my sixth grade classroom listening to my first chastity talk. A young woman spoke to us about virtue, waiting for your soulmate, and finding true love. At the end of the talk, each of us received a red sticker that boldly said “I’M WORTH WAITING FOR!” I wore the sticker p...
