I facilitated a two-day orientation, capacity building and hands-on workshop for teachers at Lower Manya Krobo Education Directorate in the Eastern Region on Monday, June 19th, and Tuesday, June 20th, 2023.

The workshop took place at the Zimmermann Presbyterian Church with about 70 participants. The participants included selected Junior High School Teachers, Curriculum Leads, some School Improvement and Support Officers (SISOs) as well as a few Headteachers. As the workshop facilitator, I guided the participants through the following topics:
1. Ghana's School Curriculum - Past, Present, and Future: Overview of the historical development of Ghana's School Curriculum. Examination of the changes and updates that have occurred over time with emphasis on the two main curriculum models: the product curriculum model (objectives-based) and the process curriculum model (standards-based). Key features of the newly introduced Standards-Based Curriculum (SBC) for Kindergarten and Primary schools, and Common Core Programme (CCP) for Junior High Schools (JHS). Discussion of potential future developments and trends in the curriculum.

2. The Creative Arts and Design Curriculum - Concept and Philosophy: Explanation of the core concepts and philosophy underpinning the Creative Arts and Design Curriculum. Emphasis on fostering creativity, innovation, and artistic expression among learners. Exploration of the importance of integrating arts and design education within the broader curriculum.

3. Lesson Preparation, Delivery, and Assessment: Strategies for effective lesson planning, including setting clear success criteria and incorporating diverse and inclusive teaching methods. Techniques for delivering engaging and interactive lessons in the Creative Arts and Design subject. Overview of assessment methods and tools for evaluating student learning and progress in the subject.

4. Resources for Effective Lesson Delivery: Introduction to various resources available for teaching Creative Arts and Design, such as art supplies, technology tools, and online platforms. Discussion on maximizing the use of limited resources and fostering a resourceful learning environment. Exploration of potential community partnerships and collaborations to enhance resource availability.

5. Creative Pedagogy: Promotion of creative teaching methodologies within the Creative Arts and Design curriculum. Encouragement of critical thinking, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary approaches. Engagement in hands-on activities, collaborative projects, and brainstorming sessions to inspire innovative teaching practices.

Participants:
The diverse composition of the participants allowed for valuable knowledge exchange and a well-rounded discussion of the workshop topics.

Impact and Conclusion:
The workshop aimed to enhance the professional development of the participants by providing them with a comprehensive understanding of Ghana's School Curriculum, the Creative Arts and Design Curriculum, effective lesson preparation and delivery, assessment techniques, available resources, and creative pedagogy.

Throughout the workshop, participants actively engaged in discussions, shared their experiences, and learned new teaching strategies. The knowledge gained during the workshop is expected to positively impact their teaching practices and enable them to create stimulating and effective learning experiences for their students.

The workshop concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing their appreciation for the insights gained and the interactive nature of the sessions. It is hoped that the workshop will serve as a catalyst for ongoing professional growth and development in the field of Creative Arts and Design education within the Lower Manya Krobo Education Directorate.

From Tuesday, 13th to Thursday, 15th June, I, as the Board Chairman of Kinbu Senior High Technical School, led a delegation of selected Governing Board members to engage with the students, teachers, auxiliary staff, and management of the school. This meeting served as a follow-up to a comprehensive study conducted by the Board, focusing on the following key areas:

1. School Attendance
2. Teaching and Learning Experiences
3. Physical, Social, and Learning Environment of the School
4. Access to Learning Resources
5. Study Habits
6. Support Services: Teacher Effectiveness, Guidance and Counselling Services
7. Co-Curricular Activities
8. Parental and Community Involvement

The objective of this research was to provide valuable insights to the Board to transform the school's performance in alignment with the "Transformational Agenda" initiated by the Ministry of Education (MoE), through the Ghana Education Service (GES), with technical and financial support from T-TEL. The data collected not only helps identify areas for improvement but also enables us to track progress and make data-driven decisions. Additionally, this information will aid policymakers in understanding the current needs of SHS Day schools, ultimately shaping education policies and implementing evidence-based interventions to enhance the quality of education in SHS Day schools.

Furthermore, the Board will utilize these findings to ensure accountability in various aspects, including academic achievement, academic progression rate, school dropout rate, and efficient school management practices.

POLICE ARREST 42 SUSPECTS FOR VARIOUS OFFENCES AT "ASHAIMAN TO THE WORLD CONCERT"

The Police arrested 42 suspects during the Ashaiman to the World concert held on 3rd September, 2022 at the Saka Saka Park in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.

The suspects who are being held for various offences, attacked some of the fans with toy guns, cutlasses, knives, scissors and other offensive weapons at different locations towards the end of the concert.

Items retrieved from them include 2 toy pistols, 10 mobile phones, 5 cutlasses, 5 jack knives, 3 pairs of scissors, 1 wig and a tablet.

All the suspects will be taken through the due process of the law.

There is absolutely nothing one can change in the *PAST*, but the *FUTURE* presents numerous opportunities to make amends. However, we need to critically and carefully study, think and act within the confines of the *PRESENT* phenomenon and move forward as one Elephant devoid of *malice, name calling, derogatory and vituparative comments*.

We can only stand on the foundations of the lessons from our past experiences and act carefully and critically on the present to make the future a better one for the NPP as a whole...

The best surgeon is not the one who cuts all the time, but the one who knows when and why not to cut. We can reclaim our seats from the NDC and *break the 8* only if we can forge ahead in *UNITY* and *HARD WORK*. Cows don't give milk but we milk them...
