Yes, these shells were found by the river in Florida freshwater where gators, snakes, and other critters are known to roam! . Maybe I should say *Don't try this at home* if you live in Florida, but in all honesty, you can do this if you're careful and safe. Be mindful of your surroundings, and never get close to the water if you get an uneasy feeling. . Gators are predators, but are known to rarely attack humans unprovoked. In any case, always give animals their space and respect. . Apple Snail shells are usually found dark and dirty, but will clean up with bleach. Since some of these snails are known to carry bacteria, it's best to use gloves when handling until they are cleaned. . Would you try this method of shelling?
