The Southeastern Channel is the educational cable television channel for Southeastern Louisiana University. This area includes Tangipahoa, St. Helena Parishes.
On-the-air 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Southeastern Channel broadcasts over Charter Cable Channel 199, reaching into 92,000 homes with a potential audience of over 240,000 viewers throughout the North Shore area. Tammany, Livingston, Washington, and St. The channel's live webcast can be viewed online at www.selu.edu/tv/live/. The channel's website also offers streaming Video on Demand a
nd archived clips of original programming. The mission of the Southeastern Channel is to produce and air television and internet programming that furthers the university’s mission of leading the educational, economic, and cultural development of southeast Louisiana, to promote the university, to provide instruction, training, and real-world experience in television and video production for university students, and to provide video production or video/multimedia projection services for selected live university events. The Southeastern Channel provides North Shore area viewers with alternatives in television programming- from telecourses, talk shows, training programs, and documentaries to concerts and sporting events. The channel gives students and area citizens new ways to access educational information and cultural events, providing a link between the university, the community, area businesses and industrial organizations. The Southeastern Channel provides university students with a chance to study in a real-world environment with cutting-edge facilities, enhancing their job career opportunities.

In 2011, Damien Echols was released from death row in the Varner Unit prison complex in Arkansas. SOUTHEASTERN STUDENT STAFF SNAG SECOND SUNCOAST STATUE
For the second year in a row, the student staff of the Southeastern Channel are the recipients of a Student Production Award for Best Live Sporting Event by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Suncoast Chapter. This Emmy award is in recognition of the production of the live ESPN + presentation of the Southeastern vs. LSU Women’s Basketball Game on November 17, 2023. All camera and control room positions were students' responsibility as were all pre-game research, producing, and writing tasks including graphics coordination and production. Featured on-camera talent are also current graduate or undergraduate students at Southeastern Louisiana University.
It is important to note that this achievement is the result of the hard work and dedication of the entire student staff of the Southeastern Channel. The level of professionalism evident in the contest vs LSU would not have been possible without the assistance of additional staffers who helped produce the Southeastern vs. Nicholls football game the night before on November 16. These students include Wade Jones, Daniel McClain, Anuraj Pant, and Lucas Hill.
The award was announced at the 2024 Suncoast Student Production Awards Ceremony held on April 29 at the University of Miami School of Communications. This honor is in addition to a prior second-place mention for the same streamcast by the Broadcast Educators Association in February.
