The Swiss are famed for their clocks, but one alarm clock that rang for the first time in Switzerland wasn't made by the Swiss, but rather a German living there at the time. It only really worked once, at waking up the intended recipient of this alarm, and I sure hope she didn't hit snooze, as it was comprised of 13 people and some very nice instruments. And it was her birthday, and Christmas as well! Good morning, Cosima Wagner.

Luke Spicer and his merry gang of musos will do their best to recreate the scene this Saturday - though it's not going to be possible for us to build a replica of the staircase in Wagner's Swiss villa.
