AFL star Mark O'Connor was back playing for his club Di**le tonight and he helped them win their second-ever Kerry club title. Di**le beat Kenmare Shamrocks by a single point in Tralee.

That's 1 AFL Premiership and 1 Kerry club title the Geelong player has won in the past 12 months. Not bad.

It’s the end of an era as Jerry Kennedy’s Butchers’ on Orchard Lane in Di**le, is set to close at the end of September.

Jerry Kennedy’s was the last remaining butcher shop in Di**le town and a multi-award winner at the Blas Na HEireann and other national food awards.

In this report his former colleague Séamus Mac Gearailt of Micilín Muc bids Jerry a fond farewell but voices his criticism at the lack of support for independent food providers.

A bus driver had a day to forget on Monday afternoon when his attempt at driving the notorious Conor Pass in West Kerry ended up blocking the route for traffic coming from Di**le, caused huge delays and chaos for motorists who were left stuck for over half an hour.

Séamus Begley passed away peacefully at his home on the 09/01/2023.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Máire, his children Breanndán, Eoin, Níall and Méabh, grand-daughter Aibhín, as well as his siblings Máire, Eibhlín, Seosaimhín, Caitlín, Bríde, John (who passed in 2015), Mícheál, Breandán and many more friends and family in Ireland and around the world.

Reposing at his home in Baile na bPoc, V92 EC61 from 2 - 8 pm on Friday. Funeral mass (Sáipéal na Carraige) on Saturday morning at 11:00am, followed by burial at Cill Chúáin Cemetery.
