Our second Small Batch pressing has been produced with the same meticulous care that won our first edition, Lush Life, rave reviews like “flawless . . . as close to the original tape as you’re likely to hear” (Analog Planet), “an unmitigated joy” (Goldmine Magazine) and “beautifully done” (Stereophile).
Due to the lengthy lead time required to produce these pressings, Eastern Sounds will also be limited in nature (1,000 copies available). However, we’ve taken your feedback to heart regarding how quickly the first edition sold out, and future titles in the series will be produced on a larger scale to meet customer demand.
Yusef Lateef's 1961 classic was mastered from the original stereo tapes by GRAMMY®-Award winning mastering engineer Bernie Grundman and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI (@record_technology) in a one-step lacquer process. New liner notes from the GRAMMY® Award-winning music historian Ashley Kahn offer new insights, and, as with Lush Life, each copy of Eastern Sounds is individually numbered and encased in a foil-stamped, linen-wrapped slipcase featuring an acrylic inset of the original artwork. The vinyl disc—extractable through a unique, frictionless ribbon pull tab—is housed in a reproduction of the album’s original tip-on jacket and protected by an archival-quality inner sleeve.
