The keynote speaker for National Keloid Awareness Month is Jonelle Demby! I met Jonelle 5 years ago and she was the first warrior to post keloids on Instagram (way back in 2011) leading the way for digital keloid activism.

Like a true warrior, Jonelle has had her share of ups and downs. She still has her moments, but she learned a valuable lesson years ago — the public gaze is not one that should cause us to hide, but one that should feel honored that we are allowing ourselves to be seen.

This awareness month was created by & .williams to help amplify a condition that has been underserved in medicine and dermatology. We hope our efforts change the current landscape of keloid research.

We are raising awareness for funding, more effective treatment options, research and insurance coverage.

I’m not going to be an activist that makes medical professionals comfortable. I must challenge, resist and push because I’m fighting for 18+ million people.

So...dermatologists, plastic surgeons and any medical professional who can help us fight an industry that’s ignored a debilitating skin condition, PULL UP! We have summoned you to the table.

Be strong keloid warriors. We will win.

Happy everyone🌚 Happy New Moon in Pisces 🌚

This meditation took me a long time to get the words just right… (13 days to be exact. lol). And after having many visits from The High Priestess, and reflecting on The Moon card and The Hanged One, it’s all about quietly waiting and listening and knowing what to let go of, so that your hands are open and free to do the work and receive all the newness that can now come thru.
