'Gravity Talks' must be the best Green on Red album.

The album is a great example of mid 80's California "western" sound. A blend of psychedelia, 60's folk, and 70's country-rock, but with the Velvet's drone creeping in constantly and with down and out lyrics.

There is a lot of complexity on “Gravity Talks” and it builds from start to finish, from the ragged and unpolished (but still charming) opener/title track through the reflective "Old Chief" and on to the driving and very western "5 Easy Pieces". This stuff holds up completely.

This great box set includes five original albums recorded between 1969 and 1974 by the great British Prog group Argent, created by Rod Argent after the demise of the Zombies, one of the most important and talented representatives of British scene.

With masterpiece "Argent" with excellent guitar playing, "Ring Of Hands" with a more rock mood, "All Together Now", "In Deep" and "Nexus". The albums have been digitally remastered and packaged in album replicas (mini-sleeves), housed in a cardboard box. This is an essential!

"Black and White," Tony Joe White's debut album, introduced the hit "Polk Salad Annie."

Born in Louisiana's swamplands, White's distinctive voice and songwriting talent shone through tracks like "Willie and Laura Mae Jones," hinting at future hits like "Rainy Night in Georgia."

The album includes notable covers, and White's compositions have left an enduring mark on music, resonating through various artists' renditions.

Cyndi Lauper fronted Blue Angel prior to becoming the iconoclastic vocalist who would revolutionize the role of women in rock & roll during the 1980s.

Their sound recalls all that is great about the superbly crafted early-'60s pop music genre. Producer Roy Halee perfectly re-creates Phil Spector's sound on the upbeat "I Had a Love" as well as "Just the Other Day," throwing in more than a hint of a reggae shuffle backbeat. Followers of Lauper's later work will note the overhaul of "Maybe He'll Know" on her similarly strong second solo outing from 1986, True Colors.

Founded by Glenn Danzig in 1977, the iconic band 'Misfits' blazed a trail from hardcore punk to heavy metal and punk rock.

Their music captivates audiences with a blend of horror and sci-fi influences, reflected in their style, live shows, and lyrics.

'Famous Monsters,' their fifth studio album, marks a pivotal era post-Danzig, featuring unforgettable tracks like 'Scream!' that was turned into a music video directed by George A. Romero. In addition, the band appeared in Romero's film Bruiser. "Kong at the Gates" was the theme music for WCW alumnus Vampiro. The song "Descending Angel" was re-recorded and released as a single in 2013, with Jerry Only on lead vocals.

'Michael Jackson With the Jackson 5 – Live!' also known as 'The Jackson 5 in Japan!' is the first live album released by the Jackson 5, culled from a live concert held in Osaka, Japan at the Kōsei Nenkin Hall (now known as the Orix Theatre) on April 30, 1973.

The album sold over a million copies worldwide. By 1973, the Jackson 5 were bigger worldwide than they were in America, selling millions of records and giving performances at sold-out concerts. This set features the group performing many of their hit records, as well as three solo hits from Michael Jackson and two from Jermaine Jackson.

Produced by Vini Poncia, it includes the hit track 'Tears,' co-written by Vinnie Cusano (later known as Vinnie Vincent). The album also features 'Feels Like Heaven,' written by Criss's former bandmate,

Gene Simmons. A standout feature: Criss appears on the cover without his iconic Kiss makeup.

Bobby Charles' collaboration with The Band, particularly Rick Danko and producer John Simon, proved to be a wise move. This partnership resulted in Charles' self-titled album, expanding his audience and showcasing his unique blend of New Orleans R&B, rock & roll, and country. The album's production is fuller, retaining Charles' mellow vibe and sharp songwriting while sounding contemporary.

It stands as a hidden gem of blue-eyed soul, Southern R&B, and early '70s roots rock.

Down, a supergroup with singer Philip Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown, COC guitarist Pepper Keenan and drummer Jimmy Bower, and guitarist Kirk Windstein of Crowbar. When you put them all altogether, they sound like … well, a southern-metal version of Black Sabbath.

Despite the Led Zep line in the title, the sludgy death-metal of Ozzy and co. is what drives Down’s sophomore CD, A Bustle in Your Hedgerow. Dinosaur-stomp drumbeats, rubbery low-string riffs and crashing power chords, lung-busting vocals, paranoid, aggressive lyrics about ‘The Man That Follows Hell’ and ‘Ghosts Along the Mississippi’— it all fuses into a wall of thundering old-school stoner metal that destroys all in its path.

Last Friday we released “Songlines” by Derek Trucks Band's.

One of the most prominent virtues of this album is the down-to-earth presence of vocalist Mike Mattison. His usually somewhat gruff tones can give way to a soulful falsetto, as on "Crow Jane”, but either way, Mattison's singing is free of affectation and replete with focused emotion.

Blues Image was formed in Tampa, Florida in 1966 by singer-guitarist Mike Pinera.

The band released their self-titled debut album in February 1969. On this CD you find two LP’s together on one disc, the debut “Blues Image” and the third album “Red White & Blues.”

Unfortunately the band broke up in May 1970, luckily we still have the CD!

Last Friday, we released "The Cage," the fourth album by British heavy metal band Tygers of Pan Tang.

It marked a commercial shift, selling over 200,000 copies and spawning two top 50 songs in the UK: "Love Potion No. 9" and "Rendezvous." The album's success led to the band's first split, but Robb Weir and Brian Dick formed the band Sergeant.

Produced by Peter Collins, known for his work with Gary Moore, Bon Jovi, Rush, and more.

Three years after her debut Immortal, Beth Hart released “Screamin' For My Supper” to great critical acclaim.

Beth produced the album herself with help from longtime collaborator and bass player Tal Herzberg, resulting in a mature, fully formed record. "LA Song" made it to a single. With her raw and fragile voice she sings some fantastic up-tempo songs and ballads.

It's her more poppy approach, but still with her recognizable sound. Later on she became one of the big names in the female blues-rock and recorded several albums together with blues giant Joe Bonamassa.

Herman Brood was a Dutch rock and roll and blues icon known for his wild lifestyle and rebellious music. His debut solo album, "Street", showcased his unique blend of rock and blues, with gritty vocals and honest lyrics reflecting the struggles of those on the fringes of society. His second studio album, "Shpritsz", became his international breakthrough, with the single "Saturday Night" propelling Brood into the global spotlight.

Despite his talent and success, Brood's lifestyle caught up with him, and he tragically took his own life in 2001. His music and legacy continue to inspire.

We hope you've been enjoying our CD releases from last month as much as we have. 🎶 We've had a little something for everyone last month, featuring some true legends of the music world. Rock out with Diamond Head's "Canterbury," a classic album that showcases the band's unique sound and killer guitar riffs. Or, if you're in the mood for some live music, Nils Lofgren's "Back It Up!! Live...An Authorized Bootleg" captures the energy of his live shows perfectly. For a touch of folk, Tim Buckley's "Goodbye And Hello" is a must-listen, while jazz lovers won't want to miss Chick Corea's "Now He Sings, Now He Sobs." And for a trip down memory lane, Emitt Rhodes' "The Emitt Rhodes Recordings 1969-1973" is a beautiful retrospective of his early work.
