Be nice to the young man at church!
Sometimes they grow up to do amazing things for God. You never know what the future is for the people around you!
Christmas Evans seems like the LAST person who would impact the world. He was poor, fatherless, abandoned by his own family, and beaten for years. He couldn't read or write at the age of 17. When he became a Christian he was attacked by his own friends and lost an eye in the encounter.
But he would go on to be the most famous preacher in Wales' history.
It's hard to imagine, but in the 19th century parents prayed God would give them a child to send into the mission field. A field that was much more dangerous in many places and likely meant never seeing them again.
Would you pray for that for your children?

Valens and Basil went back and forth for years.
But when Valens saw Basil's church and the character that Basil had, he relented his attack on his church and attempts to shut it down.
Augustine's mom would not give up on her son. He had joined a cult and seemed to be as far from God as possible.
Yet no matter what city he went to she showed up and started praying for him to come to Christ.
And it seemed to make all the difference.
Even though he pastored 1500 people in the late 1800s, most of his congregation did not know this about him...
I don't know how they didn't.
It wasn't a true secret, he just didn't talk about it...
Robert S Candlish preached against the sin of carefulness hundreds of years ago.
Are you guilty of this sin?
What would you do if you were sent thousands of miles off track?
Would you do what Thomas Coke did?
Appreciate the church that God has given you!
For many it was an honor to hear a sermon that only happened once in a while.
A snowy blizzard hit London. The pastor did not show up to church. A man stood up and shared a few words.
But his words led to the conversion of one of the most important people in the 19th century.
Jonathan Swift went down in history as one of the greatest satirists that ever lived.
But even though he was a Christian, his faith is often forgotten.
This was partially due to the fact that he often hid his faith, out of fear of being seen as a hypocrite.
Henry Liddon was a famous pastor in the 1800s who preached a sermon titled: Five Minutes After You Die.
He remembered meeting a man who said his entire life wouldn't compare to those first five minutes after he dies.
Are you living with those five minutes in view?
Walter Macon Lowrie was a missionary who lived in China. Despite spending years there, he only ever preached one sermon in Chinese. Yet he opened that sermon with discussion about how he felt about being killed by pirates.
A few weeks later he was killed by pirates. His sermon was spread through China and led to many people coming to Christ due to his testimony.
My students said that the church wouldn't run to plague victims and leprosy victims these days.
What do you think? Would the church do it again?
DL Moody had one major moment of regret. An opportunity to share the Gospel with his congregation that he passed up on.
He never got a second chance with that group. You never know how long or short your time with someone will be. Don't make Moody's mistake and have the same regret!
An important lesson from the Great Awakening that Christians need to hear today.
Have you heard of a conversion of a 100 year old man?
If not, you have to hear the AMAZING conversion of Luke Short. His is truly unlike any other person's in history.
Going back in time, have you checked out our series by John Calvin on the Passion of the Christ? It's a great one if you're looking to be edified and hear the story of Christ on the Cross like you haven't before.
