Michelle photographs the community of an Exeter housing estate designed in the idealistic 1920s along Garden City lines to rehouse families from the city's West Quarter slum. So sad to hear the news today that Paddy Summerfield died this morning. My thoughts are with his family and his partner Patricia.

I've had the privilege to work with Paddy on six books over the last ten or so years and each one has been such a pleasure. He was not only a photographer of exceptional vision but also a truly kind and generous human being. I know that his enthusiasm, his warmth and his humour will be much missed by so many of us. I also know that his work will live on in our minds and hearts for a very long time.

RIP Paddy.
