NEW EPISODE! Billed as Quentin Tarantino's favorite slasher flick, this week we review the 1981 horror classic, MY BLOODY VALENTINE. The movie that tries to teach us never to have drunken parties in methane filled mines.....and oh yea killer miners might be in there too.
Man oh man…this review felt more like therapy for John and I. #jurassicworlddominion feels like the last remaining bits of a ripped apart carcus that was #jurassicpark. Like all the best parts were picked over and what were left with are the last entrails. Needless to say, we hated this movie. Want your business to be the top-listed Media Company?
Launched in April of 2016, The Cinema Psychos Show features indie filmmakers and friends forged in the fires of film school, Brian Cottington, John, and Laine Wooliscroft who each week bring a vulgar-yet-smart commentary on movie reviews, filmmaker interviews, and filmmaker retrospectives.
Indie Filmmaker, Podcast Host, Adjunct Professor and Occasional Mad Scientist (ok that last one isn’t true) Brian Cottington is the renaissance man of indie film.
Brian has made over 30 short films and 1 feature over 12 years, including his most recent film, the award winning feature film documentary, House of Oddities: The Story of the Atrocity Exhibition.
Brian Cottington graduated from Robert Morris University in 2009 with a Bachelors in Media Arts/TV Video Production. While at RMU, Brian rose through the ranks of RMU TV, starting off as a camera operator, technical director, and ultimately Co-Producer/Editor/Talent for his own movie review show, Prime Cuts Theater.
After RMU, he worked for a short time as a freelance editor and crew member for various independent productions including WQED and Jamie Kennedy Entertainment. It was also during this time that he collaborated with Daggervision Films. Through that partnership, DaggerVision grew to create a successful internet horror talk radio show and increase the profile of the horror film company.
In the fall of 2010, Brian decided to pursue his MFA in Film & Digital Technology at Chatham University. With an emphasis on learning the art of visual storytelling, Brian grew as a filmmaker. At Chatham, Brian created lifelong relationships with fellow filmmakers, including fellow co hosts, John and Elaine Wooliscroft.
When he isn’t cranking out podcasts or making movies, Brian works as an Event Media Specialist and as an Adjunct Professor instructing young filmmakers in the dark arts of visual effects.
Brian has had his films screened throughout Pittsburgh as part of Horror Realm, Most Wanted Fine Art, and RAW Art Exhibition; as well as Cleveland at the International Indie Gathering and Long Island, New York’s Macabre Faire Film Festival.
Laine is a filmmaker, photographer, writer, and podcaster who dreams of a world where coffee is bottomless and you can bring your pets to work every day.
As a story-teller with over 14 years of experience, she does freelance video and photo work for private clients, fellow filmmakers, and beloved Pittsburgh institutions. She's constantly inspired by Pittsburgh's thriving arts community and always strives to be a real contributor to its kind heart.
When not completing freelance work or working on the podcast, she can be found co-organizing the next event for the Steel City Speculative Series, pawing through an estate sale, or working on her new house."
John Wooliscroft is a lot of things, but one thing he is not, is a killer. Having gotten that out of the way, perhaps it’s time to break down the old CV. John is a independent filmmaker, videographer, documentarian, and comedy writer. Don’t ask him to tell you a joke or he will punch you in whatever ge****ls you may have.
John puts his over 12 years of film experience to, let’s call it, good use, making an eclectic group of short films and the occasional feature. John’s short films and his documentary feature, “Electrical Disturbance,” have played in multiple film festivals and screenings.
When not being abrasive and off-putting in biographic descriptions, John spends his time developing his YouTube channel about film analysis, much like this podcast. Look for this YouTube channel to launch very soon, unless he dies or wins PowerBall.
When not working, John enjoys cursing, being resentful of others’ success, and hating Terminator 3. If you feel the need to let this young lad know how you really feel about him, hit him up on Twitter; or, write a letter to him, put it into a wish box, and hope that it gives him cancer.* Until next time, just remember, he loves you all, except those of you he doesn’t.
