I hope you had a happy long weekend, Crushes. We are starting something new this week and I'm really excited about it. 𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗵: 𝗔𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. Anything goes! Well, don't ask me about my Mother's secret meatloaf ingredient because that I can NOT do. But anything else! Enjoy

Almost half of the adult population in the U.S. is unmarried, a 10% increase since 1970. You can stop asking them if “they’ve met anyone special yet” because it’s rude, and there’s a good chance they’re not looking.

This week we are starting a series on being SOLO after 40. It is not written just for those who are solo, though. In particular, Lisa Ellex piece, The Secrets That We Keep: Brutally Honest Conversations About Being Solo and mine, How to Talk to A SOLO, are meant to share some insight with our partnered-up friends and family on our perspectives as solo's. We live in a world structured around the coupled-up even though the number of solo adults is rising dramatically. Chances are you have a solo you care about. Want to know more about how they feel? (Yes, you do!) They may be perfectly content, by the way, as I point out in The Rise of the Contented Solo.

Our featured short story Leave the Husband, Bring the Cannoli by A.K.A. Darla. It is the very essence of "midlife relationships" to me, as it speaks to what so many of us live through – divorce – and more pointedly, the families that re-form after one.

our approach to all matters involving what I refer to as "life with others," here at PrimeCrush we're keeping it real. In particular, in this Letter. Welcome to our version of the holidays, beginning with Lisa Ellex's piece And so this is Christmas?.

Lisa Ellex and I are back with another round of things you might consider doing with December’s DEVOUR. It is one of my very favorite things to do — review my favorite things to share with you.

I'm writing from Paris. Bonjour!

This Letter is dedicated to the families we make. It has been in the works for a while, even before I started watching Dead to Me, which I only began after reading about the making of its recently released Season 3. But boy-oh-boy the show is a tribute to the idea that we make a family through commitment, caring, love and (of course) tolerance.

One thing I always say – as you, dear CRUSH Readers know – is that friendships are under-celebrated. There is more on Dead to Me in our stories below, and also pieces that will challenge any notions you may have on how to define family, and whether you even should.

A few notes on our Grateful Mix. It was so fun to see your suggestions roll in. I guess it's unsurprising that the artist making us feel most grateful is Van Morrison, given the spirituality in his songs and his prominence during our formative years. I loved getting reacquainted with old friends I hadn't heard from in a while like Lovely Day, Wondering Where the Lions Are, and God Only Knows. There were some non-obvious picks that I was delightfully curious about as selections (but we'll let you have your delicious secrets, Woody and Dutch on the Slow Train to Peking and Coney Island). Peaches and Judy You Hung the Moon were altogether new to me, which is of course fun. And I was very moved, of course, by the selections that suggest things are lightening up after a really dark (or dry, in the case of Cindy) time Here Comes the Sun, Nick Of Time, and even Willin'. Because lord knows, you can't get to midlife without having gone through some real tough times. It's the bitter that lets us taste the sweet, as they say.

Actual PrimeCrush Readers have agreed to try out and review for the rest of us a range of s*x products (toys, l***s, books, vi*****rs, you name it).

Yeah, our PrimeCrush Toy Tester Project is an ambitious effort, but thankfully some of your fellow Readers have taken on the hard job of being s*xual explorers.

What a week. Now that the midterms are over hopefully we can all stop holding our collective breath and let out a deep sigh. We're here to enjoy a respite from all that and to remind each other about the relaxed and fun side of adulting, but sometimes a clear breath is in order.

This week, at long last, we are sharing a new PrimeCrush Toy Tester Report. You're going to love it. Big thanks to all our Toy Testers - your fellow readers have really been working hard, Crushes.
