The D. R. Curry Memorial Choir The D. R. Curry Memorial Choir was named in honor of the Founder and Pastor of the Liberal Trinity C Curry, Sr. Under the direction of Bro. David R. D. The D.R.

The Liberal Trinity Church of God in Christ was founded by the Late Dr. David R. in 1919, when he was led by the Spirit of God, while in Selma, Alabama, to go to Jackson, Mississippi and establish a church. As a result, he came to Jackson with his wife, a guitar, a tambourine, and faith in God. The seed of holiness had already been planted in Jackson by the Late Bishop Charles Harrison Mason and o

thers, but no Church of God in Christ had been established in the area. From the “THINGS GO BETTER WITH CHRIST” Album:
This most spiritually motivated choir, better known as the Liberal Trinity COGIC Youth Choir, sings from the heart. Curry, Jr., this first album commemorates the tenure of the church’s founding father—the Late Supt. Curry Memorial Choir displays a stamp of greatness and enthusiasm like a volcano erupting. In 1974, this choir was rated Number 3 in the Nation at the International Youth Congress of the Church of God in Christ, Inc., in Kansas City, MO. And in 1975, this choir was rated Number 2 in the Nation at the International Youth Congress in Memphis, TN. The songs and sounds of this choir soothes and stirs the souls of all who believe and have faith in God. Curry Memorial Choir is the sound of today. It is young and refreshing, modern and still traditional. These young people reveal why they, in their chosen work, bring happiness, comforting, and uplift to all who like gospel music. Choir Director, David R. Curry, Jr., and other members of the Curry Family help make this choir as great as it is. You can see and hear this electrifying choir every pastoral Sunday at the Liberal Trinity COGIC, 725 W. Northside Drive, Jackson, MS. God is using them. Sam Jones (1977)

From the, "LIFT JESUS UP" Album:
This album is dedicated with love to my loving mother, Mother Gladys Curry, wife of the late Supt. I thank you for being the true meaning and example of the word, “Mother”, because that’s what you are. Curry Memorial Choir, God only knows how much I love you. I thank you for sharing with me the many trials, tribulations, and afflictions we’ve gone through. Like Psalms 34:19 says, “Many of the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivereth him out of them all”. Though we lost some members, those that stayed helped to prove God’s word true in I Peter 5:10 and II Corinthians 1:3-4. I would like to thank Malaco for adopting us, the first choir into their great gospel music family. Thank you Tommy for listening, Frank for having faith, James for putting up with us, Brian for driving 100-plus miles, Roy for just being Roy, Jerry and Jimmy for their skillful playing on the keyboard and all that assisted in the making of this album, and Charlie for your God-given instrumentation talents. Special thanks goes to our pastor, Supt. Hollis Musgrove and the Saints that prayed for us. We couldn’t have made it without the prayers. Last, but above all, “HALLELUJAH” (the highest praise) goes to YOU, GOD, for giving us the ministry of music. For it was YOU who made the way and we can truly say, “The Lord Has Been So Good To Me”, (us). Yours Eternally,
David R. Curry, Jr. President and Training Director

CHOIR MOTTO:
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
