We know that many of you are waiting for news on the library renovations and we truly appreciate your patience. Unfortunately, we’re experiencing unexpected delays in the manufacturing, delivery, and installation of our new bookshelves and furniture.

This is a big project and so far, we’ve accomplished:
- Packing and moving the entire collection on the main floor and mezzanine (that's almost 20,000 items!)
- Removing and rehoming the old furniture and bookshelves
- Repairing and painting all damaged walls
- Removing the old carpet
- Installing the new carpet

We don’t have an exact date for reopening yet, as it is contingent on the installation of our new shelving, but we’re aiming for mid-late October. We will be sure to post updates as we are able and thank you again for sticking with us through this process. We think the end result will be worth the wait!

This morning at 06:24 our members were alerted to a Boating Emergency requiring Water Rescue at the Phoenix Dam where a kayaker had Flipped and was stranded in water at a flood gate. Due to the nature of the incident the Oswego County Dive Team was put on standby and mutual aid was requested from North West Fire District. Phoenix responded with Car 2 (4702), Rescue 1 (4761) and Engine 12 (4712). Firefighters/EMTs made patient contact utilizing the catwalk above the flood gates while Northwest's jet ski and boat stood by down stream incase the pt fell into the water given the fast current. Rescue was made utilizing a ladder where the patient was able to climb to safety. The patient was found to have no injuries and was released. Also Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps stood by at the scene ready to provide patient care. Thanks to all crews who assisted on this Rescue. Crews operated on scene until clearing at 07:15.

It is with heavy hearts and deepest sympathies that we announce the sudden passing of our own Oswego County Sheriff’s Deputy Cailee Campbell on the morning of September 25, 2024. Deputy Campbell was involved in a motor vehicle accident while responding to a call, ultimately resulting in her passing. She served her community with dedication and enthusiasm, and her legacy will live on in our hearts. The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office is asking for prayers for friends, family and colleagues during this difficult time.

The Oswego Police Department was made aware of the attached threat circulating on social media. Through investigation, the source of the threat was identified and the threat was determined to be unfounded. A 14 year old juvenile was ultimately charged for making the threat and is scheduled to appear in Family Court.

We would like the public to be aware that every threat made is thoroughly investigated by our department and other law enforcement agencies. We maintain a strong partnership with the Oswego City School District and other law enforcement and are in constant communication. The safety of our students and all other members of our community is of our highest priority, and we continue to maintain a strong presence within our local school district. Please continue to report all suspicious activity and threats to law enforcement and please do not continually share such threats via social media.

We will continue holding those who make such threats responsible for their actions and working with partnering agencies to identify the sources of such threats. Please take a vested interest in monitoring your children’s use of social media.
