Greetings all...
I probably should have posted this late Thursday night or early Friday morning. And I know it's long, but... Well... There's a lot of information to give you.
For years now, I've been telling you all about my passion project, the post-apocalyptic, spaghetti western, thriller "79 A.E."
I've told you about it's appropriately slow and low soundtrack of some of the best indie/underground doom, stoner, sludge and heavy-psych bands out there like Dust Lord, Order of the Owl, 10.000 km² gegen die Zeit, STONEBIRDS, Mos Generator, Mothers of the Land, Devil's Witches, Wizzerd, and Bongtower.
I've told you about the short prequel film "No One Mourns a Vulture" (formerly "The Gunslinger) and it's equally poignant soundtrack with DUEL and Red Beard Wall
(Seriously... Click on those bands and check them out. If your taste in music even borders on the low, slow and heavy, you're bound to find you like at least one of them.)
I have told you about (some) of the successes the script has found at film festivals and screenplay competitions, but here's the full rundown for 2023... The script was an official selection of multiple fests/comps and the winner of a handful of awards including Best Original Screenplay, Best Thriller Screenplay, and Best Writer as well as placing as a semi-finalist or finalist in three more.
What I haven't told you about was the band that had agreed to do the original score for the film once we got funding secured. Well, while we haven't managed to get that funding, this band has been so inspired by the script as to go ahead and write and record an album. I am truly honored and humbled to have been the catalyst for an album from such an amazing band. That band, is the instrumental doom outfit known as Clouds Taste Satanic. Their new album, simply titled "79 A.E." releases in March on Majestic Mountain Records and is currently available for pre-order on their Bandcamp page (link below). The test pressings and more limited runs of vinyl records have already sold out, but there is still at least one vinyl variant available as well as CDs and, of course, the digital version is always an option. By buying this album, you are not only helping a great band continue their endeavors, you are indirectly helping us by spreading the word about the film.

Next, while it has proven a logistical nightmare getting "No One Mourns a Vulture" made, I have written a microbudget short script titled "The Zealot" that will serve as a prequel, spin-off and proof of concept for "79 A.E." to potential producers/investors and for any future crowdfunding campaigns. The current plan (which I hope remains unchanged) is to shoot this short film in spring and have it edited in time to make the festivals starting in the fall.
Lastly, I will be working with my old friend - artist and graphic designer Eric Eddy to create a graphic novel giving even more historical background on the world, characters, and groups of "79 A.E.". This project doesn't have a definitive title yet, but the ravens are circling around "79 A.E.: Origins", "79 A.E.: Days Afore" or something similar. There is no set date for the book's release, but we will be self-publishing, hopefully by the end of summer. My share of any profits from the sale of this book will go directly to funding the film.
And, that's it for now. Thanks for taking the time to read it all and, please, do check out those bands. Well worth your time. As always, I would greatly appreciate sharing of this post, likes on the post, etc etc. And, remember you can also follow us on Instagram and subscribe to our YouTube channel.
Cheers.
