THE 7 JAR PERA STRATEGY
Pera Strategy No. 1: Emancipation Fund. This is allocated for your Investments that will be your fund come retirement time. Others call it as Financial Freedom fund. You can invest 20% of your monthly income to investment vehicles such as, but not limited to stocks, mutual funds and real estate.
Pera Strategy No. 2: Emergency Fund. This will be your "buffer" fund or "rainy day" fund in which will be your cushion come emergency times for car repairs, medical illness, calamity expenses. This is usually worth 3-6 months of your monthly expenses. You can get 5% of your income every month to set aside for this fund. Once completed, you can switch to other funds.
Pera Strategy No. 3: Everyday Fund. This fund should cover 40%-70% of your monthly income. It will handle your daily expenses such as food, transportation, etc. Make sure to live below your means. You do not want your expenses surpassing your monthly income. Make sure to follow your budget and stick with it.
Pera Strategy No. 4: Empower Fund. Allocate 10-15% of your income here. This will be your reward for a job well done in which you can buy or avail anything you want like a gadget or a vacation for your family. By following this system, we make sure that we also enjoy the fruits of our labor.
Pera Strategy No. 5: Enjoyment Fund. You can set aside 5% of your money here. This would be for the small things that you and your family enjoy doing. You can watch movies or go out and eat somewhere nice.
Pera Strategy No. 6: Education Fund. This fund is very important since we all know that if we want to earn, we must learn first to grow our income. With that, we set aside 5%-10% income for your education fund to attend summits, conventions, seminars or buy online courses that will enable us to invest in ourselves. As Benjamin Franklin said, the best investment we could ever have is investing in ourselves.
Pera Strategy No. 7: Eternity Fund. For me, this is the best fund of them all. The best investment ever. Our Eternity fund. The best business partner we could ever have is Our Lord. He owns everything but asks only 10%.
