To mark our second release “Eternal Poet EP”, we recorded this mix in a smooth afternoon, on the shores of Baneasa Lake, in Bucharest.
Miss I and Momentdat started together Misbits Recordings few years back with a plan for the first 9 releases chapter, with well established musicians but also emerging new ones and a platform for sound-art and experimental ambient realms. Things take shape from one release to the next and the jigsaw puzzle of images and music blends perfectly.

Ohanami reunites two very special Japanese musicians: Yoshio Machida (sound & visual artist, Steel Pan player) and Tatsuhisa Yamamoto (drummer-percussionist-composer). Ohanami explores different realms of sound using a variety of unique electronic and acoustic instruments, as well as ambient soundscapes in the most sensitive way. Their music is clear, deep and bright, often polyrhythmic. Here’s an excerpt from Hanagasa, the A2 track on our latest release, Eternal Poet EP | MBR002, where they deliver an emotionally charged post-jazz exercise, drenched in peaceful nostalgia.

Two travelers in the world of sound 💫 as they would describe themselves, [ #/tau] Boris Hegenbart and Moss are two of Berlin’s great contemporary musicians and performers. Hegenbart is an expert in recombining the human voice, acoustic instruments and electronic sounds, while Moss is widely known for his powerful vocal performances, magically transforming his voice through the most extreme yet intimate forms. In 2016 they started their “duo_mono_lith” collab project, and we’re honored to welcome them once again for our 2nd release, with an out-of-this-world sonic transmission, disguised as our A1 opening track.

Get ready for an immersive journey of the senses through the sound-art and experimental ambient realms, guided by a bunch of visionary producers. The A-side features familiar guests [ #/tau] Boris Hegenbart and David Moss, returning for one more other-worldly sonic transmission of visceral, syncopated samples, followed by Japanese duo Ohanami in an emotionally-charged post-jazz exercise, drenched in peaceful nostalgia. The B-side consists of ten locked-grooves signed by Ohanami, Shōen 荘園, Shcaa, Smooth Operators, and REV capturing diverse musical moments with transformative potential. Three more days and MBR002 is out for grabs. 💪 Till then, a few words about the beautifully crafted artwork by Glitch Shop: the record’s sleeve perfectly translates the musical concept behind the release, revealing a surreal landscape, where wild and urban landscapes seamlessly melt together under the scrutiny of a fantastic owl. Remarkably so, this sleeve holds the 2nd part of a 1-square meter illustration, divided into 9 pieces – each piece covering a different MBR release, so only when placing all of them side by side, on a 3-by-3 grid does the whole story reveal itself. 🤯
