Reflecting on the remix, Johnco shares: “Four years ago, I had the chance to discover Tamada’s music through his album Tamada vs Dionysus. It was love at first note. The surprising balance between electronic and traditional music instantly drew me in. The ethereal dynamics of ‘Umal’ give the track an ageless depth, which inspired me in creating this remix.”

We’re excited to announce Netam’s debut live album, and our first of the ‘Alt Orient Live Sessions’. Recorded live in Audio & Video at the iconic Yedikule Fortress in the heart of Istanbul, under the direction of Motif and production of Dünyadan Sesler

The Live performance will be Premeired on Thursday, 25th of July, 2 sleeps away on our youtube channel at 7:30 pm Istanbul Time, find the link in the comments.

Netam brings together electronic elements and Anatolian melodies in a fascinating way in his music. In this live performance, he presents a unique show with his skills in electronic music as well as his use of synthesizer and trumpet. It creates an immersive effect on the listener with its sound design enriched with psychedelic textures and naive transitions between songs. Melodically rich and relaxing, this album can be a nice accompaniment through your day.

Recorded in September 2022 in the Yedikule Dungeons of the Fatih district, known for its rich history and lively atmosphere, Netam’s work comes together with the historical texture of Istanbul and appears as an immersive live performance. This performance was recorded during a sunset on the Historical Peninsula, inside one of the towers in Yedikule Dungeons.

Here at Alt Orient, we not only seek Alternative music from the Eastern side of the world, but we also seek an alternative East that is free from every kind of oppression. We seek collective freedom for everyone, everywhere in the world.

As we have entered the 10th month of the genocide and annihilation of Palestinians in Gaza, we, as a record label owned 100% by people from the Palestinian diaspora, are adding more to “Free Palestine” since it was never enough. There are a lot of complicit people and parties, including us diasporic Palestinians, who have yet to burn the whole world to the ground watching our own being genocided and ethnically cleansed everyday.

When “Free Palestine” is labeled as genocidal by those depriving Palestinians of their freedom, when 75+ years of oppression and bloodshed is not convincing enough to ask for freedom, when the world is still wondering “Free Palestine from what?”, we are here to tell you exactly what it needs to be free from!

Release info: In the post-colonial world we live today, where colonial interests still dominate under the guise of freedom, democracy, and enlightenment, we find ourselves in a region fraught with ideological, social, economic, and geopolitical complexities as if we are between fire and iron. As the drumbeat of a sectarian and racist war escalates, we wonder Is there a place for love in this region? Do its people have the right to live in peace? Amidst these contradictions between love and hate, and between war and peace, these feelings are embodied in the essence of the album ‘Kol Shi Sar’ Everything That Happened. Through lyrics and melodies, the duo takes us on a journey of questioning, confronting the status quo, and acknowledging the continuing legacy of colonialism in the modern era. Palestinians fight for freedom, as long as their electricity, water, food & movement is controlled by the apartheid state, they will continue fighting for their freedom in Gaza, the West Bank & the ethnically cleansed 48 territories. This Friday we’re taking over Kater Blau from 5 pm until 2 in the morning, Zigan Aldi will open the weekend with a 4 hour Dj live set at Garten Blau *outdoors*, followed by two live sets by Turkish and Jordanian/Palestinian bands Yalnayak & El Morabba3 on the powerful sound system of Heinz Hopper. Finishing off with a 3 hour Dj set by Wapi, tickets are 20 euros only sold kn door and will give you access into kater for the full weekend
