The Role of a City Medical Examiner II (Salary Range: $189,527.00 – $238,942.00)
As a City Medical Examiner II, you will be responsible for conducting confidential investigations into deaths reported to the OCME. You will work independently, using your expertise and judgment to analyze evidence and determine the cause and manner of death. You will also supervise the work of City Medical Examiners I and report your findings to proper official agencies as required by law.
Qualifications for City Medical Examiner II
To be considered for this role, you must have:
A minimum of two years of ACGME-accredited residency in anatomic pathology or three years of ACGME-accredited residency in anatomic and clinical pathology
Evidence of having performed at least 30 autopsies.
A valid license to practice medicine in the State of New York
Additional Qualification Requirements for Assignment Level II
To be eligible for Assignment Level II, you must meet one of the following requirements:
Be certified in forensic pathology by the American Board of Pathology and possess either:
o Evidence of having performed at least 200 autopsies.
o One year of satisfactory performance at Assignment Level I
Be board certified by the American Board of Pathology in a subspecialty of anatomic or clinical pathology or be American Board of Medical Specialties board certified in another medical/clinical specialty applicable to the practice of forensic medicine.
