THE POWER OF REST: EMBRACING LIFE'S WINTER SEASON

Episode 128 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast is live now!

We are about a month into the new year and I don’t know about you, but I everything I see is about making “this year your best year ever.” There are classes and articles and social medial posts about setting goals, making changes, becoming a new and better you.

And those are all good things. This is a GREAT time of year to re-evaluate your situation and make the necessary changes to move closer to the life you want.

But what if you’re feeling exhausted, depressed, or frustrated, and wondering how on earth you’re supposed to get up the oomph to make those changes? Maybe this is as “new” and “better” as you can get?

In today’s episode, I talk about the power of rest and embracing life’s winter seasons.

Curious about what that means? Listen to the full episode!

WHY SHOULD YOU CONSIDER BECOMING A CERTIFIED FIBROMYALGIA COACH®?
Special Series

Be a Coach Series #3 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast® is live now!

Fibromyalgia can feel like a very long taking away of things — one thing many of us lose is our ability to contribute to the world around us, to make a difference, have a purpose, or even just contribute to our family’s finances.

Fibromyalgia can create an “identity crisis” of sorts that makes us wonder who we are now that we can’t do the things we used to do.

This is a hard thing to face — and it can be an opportunity to create a new identity for ourselves. One we may like even better.

Why would someone want to become a Certified Fibromyalgia Coach®? Why does the world NEED fibro coaches? Why should YOU consider becoming a Certified Fibromyalgia Coach®?

Great questions! And exactly what I cover in this special episode!

FIBROMYALGIA STORIES OF HOPE AND HEALING #8

Episode 127 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast is live now!

Today, I’m sharing some inspiring excerpts from our January 2024 Fibromyalgia Stories of Hope and Healing event.

You’ll hear four graduates share their personal stories and how they’ve been able to improve their fibromyalgia symptoms.

On average, graduates of our Certified Fibromyalgia Advisor® Class improve by about 50% during the three month class.

You’ll hear Julie share during her commencement speech how she’s gone from being in bed 90% of the time to becoming a Coach, writing a best selling book, and participating in 5K and 10K races

Dr. Kaylynne shares how her Coach acted as a sounding board, helping her find new things to try.

Viktoriia shares how she traveled the globe to find answers: from Ukraine to Canada to Turkey to Russia — and how her coach helped her address the emotional overwhelm from the war in Ukraine, being forced to move for her health, and other stressors, to improve by 32%.

Deb shares her journey from being a chronic pain advocate who was desperate to feel better, to becoming a Coach who now helps others.

If you've been looking for fibro-friendly work that allows you to take advantage of your skills and expertise and to make a difference in the world around you, consider becoming a Certified Fibromyalgia Coach. Our next class starts in just a few weeks and we are enrolling NOW.

WHO MAKES A GOOD CERTIFIED FIBROMYALGIA COACH®?
Special Series

Be a Coach Series #2 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast is live now!

In the second episode of the special series "Be a Coach", I'm talking about Who Makes a Good Certified Fibromyalgia Coach®.

In this episode, I explain that to help someone else, you just have to be a little bit ahead of them. You don’t have to have it all figured out.

When I first started coaching, I sometimes sat in bed with my computer and cell phone. I wasn’t well enough to work a 40-hour job — but I was absolutely well enough to help someone over the phone feel less alone.

I didn’t have everything figured out, but I had some things figured out. The more people I helped, the better I felt, and the more I learned — which led to being able to help even more people — like you.

Do you know we have 12,000-15,000 downloads of this podcast every month? It’s crazy! If I hadn’t started by sitting in bed with my phone and my computer, neither of us would be here right now.

THE BEST WAY I KNOW TO FEEL BETTER
Special Series

Episode 126 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast is live now!

As a Master Certified Fibromyalgia Coach®, author, and fibro podcaster, the question I’m asked more than any other is:

❓ “How do I get better? How do I improve my fibromyalgia so I can get back to living the life I want to live?”

EVERYONE wants to know how to improve their fibromyalgia symptoms — to reduce their pain, increase their energy, clear their fibro fog, and get better sleep.

And it’s probably what you want too, am I right?

This is not a quick or easy question to answer in an email, on social media — or even a podcast episode or book!

While we all have similar symptoms, what helps YOU feel better may not be the thing that helps ME feel better — and vice versa.

Each of us needs to find our own magic formula for what helps our bodies feel their best.

Each of us must try different things to see if they help or not, pay attention to the results of these different little experiments, and combine all the small improvements together to get BIG improvements over time.

Which leads me to “The Best Way I Know to Feel Better” 😁

ONE YEAR BREAKTHROUGH TO FIBROMYALGIA HEALING
Special Guest: Kim Osborne

Episode 124 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast is live now!

Today, I have a a special bonus episode for you!

So often, we overestimate what we can do in a few weeks, but underestimate what we can accomplish in a year.

Kim came to me in September 2022, a little over a year ago, because she was really struggling. She was at the end of her resources and at the end of her rope.

Kim had tried all the things she knew to try and had talked to everyone she could think to talk to. She consulted with all of her providers — who she loved and were very supportive. Unfortunately, they weren't able to give her the help she needed for her fibromyalgia. In fact, she felt like her life was shrinking and many of the things that used to work for her to help her cope with her pain and symptoms really just weren't working for her anymore.

Kim even became a health coach and yoga instructor to learn all she could about nutrition and exercise. But.... at the end of it all — even with eating a really clean diet and doing all that yoga — Kim was still feeling miserable.

This is when Kim reached out to me.

In today's Stories of Hope, Kim shares just how far she's come in the last year. Her fibromyalgia is under control. She's found providers who can help and a new support community. Kim is currently a student in our Certified Fibromyalgia Coach® training program and is now helping people like you feel better too.

REVEALING HIDDEN DIAGNOSES BEYOND FIBROMYALGIA
Special Guest: Dr. Isabelle Amigues

Episode 123 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast is live now!

In today's episode, I interview rheumatologist, Dr. Isabelle Amigues.

Dr. Amigues has trained as a rheumatologist both in Paris and Columbia University in New York City. She is the founder and CEO of Unabridged MD, and sees patients in Denver, Colorado, and a few other states. She's the author of multiple book chapters and scientific articles. Her podcast, Unabridged MD, can be found anywhere you listen to podcasts.

At age 40, Dr. Amigues was diagnosed with stage four metastatic breast cancer. A timely meeting with a non-traditionally trained practitioner, taught her a different approach to disease. She experienced the power of meditation, visualization, energy healing, and most importantly, love.

In this episode, Dr. Amigues shares her journey from doctor to patient with stage four breast cancer back to doctor, and how her experience as a patient has changed how she approaches treating her patients today, including those with .

Dr. Amigues also shares the common rheumatological conditions that are missed in fibromyalgia, the signs that there might be more going on than just fibromyalgia, and why it's important to have the correct diagnosis.

In previous episodes, we've talked about the way traumatic events you've experienced are impacting your health and your fibromyalgia.

Today, we go beyond that to talk about how the traumatic events that have happened to your ancestors are impacting your now.

I know that sounds a little woo woo on the surface, but I promise you, as always, we've got some science in today's episode too.

A GENTLER WAY TO EXERCISE WITH FIBROMYALGIA
Special Guest: Katarina Lotrič

Episode 121 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast is live now!

In today's episode, I want to share with you a tool I've been using with my students, clients, and coaches to help manage their fibromyalgia symptoms while increasing their fitness levels.

It's something I've been using myself over the last year, and it's helped me increase my fitness levels in a gentle way without overdoing it. I'm talking about the Apple Watch app, Gentler Streak.

I'm excited to share more about Gentler Streak because it's a gentle and fibro friendly way to track physical exercise and body movement, most importantly, with the gentle side of things. The app does this without making you push too hard or feel like you're not doing enough.

Today I'm interviewing Katarina Lotrič, co-founder and CEO of Gentler Stories, the creators behind Gentler Streak.

They founded their studio in February, 2021 and received the prestigious Apple Watch App of the Year Award for Gentler Streak in December, 2022.

In 2023, they were one of three finalists for the Apple Design Award in the visuals and graphics category.

HOW DO YOU DO IT ALL?
Ask the Coach Series

Episode 120 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast is live now!

Today's Ask the Coach episode answers a question that came up during one of my "Ask Me Anything" sessions during our Annual Alumni Retreat back in September. And the question is:

"How do you do it all?"

Now, I don't mean how do YOU do it all? Angela, who asked the question, actually wanted to know how I, Tami, do it all.

It was such a good question that I wanted all of you to hear it. I've also done a lot of thinking since Angela first asked the question. So I wanted her to hear my deeper answer since I gave her what I had off the top of my head at the moment.

MENOPAUSE AND FIBROMYALGIA WITH JEANNE ANDRUS

Episode 119 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast is live now!

In today's episode, I interview the menopause guru, Jeanne Andrus.

Jeanne Andress, the menopause guru. Jeanne has been coaching, writing, and speaking about menopause for over a decade. She is the author of the international bestselling book, I Just Want To Be Me Again, and the host of the podcast and TV show Menopause Matters.

Her approach to resolving menopause symptoms is wildly esoteric, kind of like Jeanne herself. It's rooted in her own blend of coaching, which she calls the Menopause Mastery Coaching, and is bolstered by hypnotherapy, reiki breath work, and a love for science and anthropology.

As Jeanne says in our interview, there isn't a single woman who will get to 90 years old and not go through menopause.

So today, we are covering what menopause is, along with perimenopause, post menopause, and all those other terms you will have heard, and how to know whether you're menopausal or not and where you are on that journey.

In addition, many symptoms of menopause cross over the symptoms of fibromyalgia, things like insomnia, brain fog, pain, and fatigue. You honestly cannot blame all of your symptoms on fibromyalgia, not even the symptoms that are fibromyalgia, because they could be coming from lots of other places, including hormones like estrogen, progesterone, and everything that goes along with menopause.

If you are a woman, 30 and up you CANNOT miss this episode, because menopause could be contributing to your symptoms.

IS FIBROMYALGIA AN AUTOIMMUNE DISORDER?

Episode 117 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast is live now!

In today's episode, Dr. Ginevra is back to help answer the question, “Is Fibromyalgia an Autoimmune Disorder?”

As you most likely know, Dr. Ginevra is a top fibro expert who developed fibromyalgia as a medical student.

Today, Dr. Ginevra is sharing an update on fibromyalgia research, including information on the paper she has recently published, along with the King's College London study that indicates fibromyalgia may in fact have an autoimmune component to it.

We also discuss other research the two of us find interesting, like the research on the use of hyperbaric oxygen for fibromyalgia.

FIBROMYALGIA STORIES OF HOPE AND HEALING #7

Episode 114 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast is live now!

In today's episode I share interviews with the graduates in our July 2023 Fibromyalgia Stories of Hope and Healing event.

On average, these five graduates of our Certified Fibromyalgia Advisor® class have improved their Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire scores by 55% during the three month class.

You can kind of think of that as a measurement of their fibromyalgia symptoms, and they cut them more than half.

One graduate improved by 87% going from the most symptomatic student in class to essentially symptom free.

What would your life look like if your symptoms were cut in half? What would you be able to do that you can't do now?

Since that was only part of her story, Gisèle asked if she could come back to share her experience in our Certified Fibromyalgia Advisor® and Certified Fibromyalgia Coach® training programs.
She wanted to share how those classes took her health to the next level.

In today's episode, Gisèle and I discussed what she learned that was most helpful, the skills she's still using today, three years after her training, how her Certified Fibromyalgia Coach®, Julie, helped her in ways her health and wellness coach couldn't, and some of the results she's been able to get for her own clients as a Certified Fibromyalgia Coach®.
