A hoverbike manufactured by a Japanese startup made its US debut at the Detroit Auto Show, drawing perhaps inevitable comparisons to the speeder bikes of “Star Wars.”

The XTURISMO flying bike is made by Japanese startup AERWINS Technologies and can fly for 40 minutes, reaching speeds of up to 62 miles per hour (100 kph). Netizens are speechless over the video showing the bike hovering and landing after its flight.

The flying bike is already on sale in Japan, and Shuhei Komatsu, founder and CEO of AERWINS, said plans were underway to sell a smaller version in the United States in 2023.

A female police officer from Balochistan has broken the glass ceiling to head the security of a district in Pakistan’s largest province, where women account for only 2.25 per cent of total police strength.

The Punjab government has posted SP Shazia Sarwer as District Police Officer (DPO) of Layyah against an existing vacancy, giving a positive message to those joining the federal services from the less privileged province.

SP Sarwer was the fifth policewoman to serve as DPO in Punjab and the first officer with Balochistan domicile, a police official said.

Earlier, he said, SP Shaista Rehman (from 36th common) has served as DPO Bhakkhar, SP Amara Ather (36th common) as DPO Bahawalnagar and DPO Sargodha, SP Maria Mahmood as DPO Pakpatan and SP Nida Umar (36th common) as DPO Layyah during the last four years or so.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said Sunday marked one year since girls were banned from attending school in Afghanistan.

"A year of lost knowledge opportunity that they will never get back.

"Girls belong in school. The Taliban must let them back in."

His comments come after a UN rights expert said women's freedoms had significantly deteriorated since the Taliban returned.

“There's no country in the world where women and girls have so rapidly been deprived of their fundamental human rights purely because of gender,” Richard Bennett, the special rapporteur on the rights situation in Afghanistan said in Geneva.

Still, most secondary schools for girls have been ordered to shut across the country, meaning this generation of women university students could be the last.

Several Taliban officials say the ban is only temporary, but they have also wheeled out a litany of excuses for the closure — from a lack of funds to time needed to remodel the syllabus along Islamic lines.

Make these vegan corn “ribs”… Ready in 30 mins! Hit save for the recipe 🌽🌽

Ingredients //
2 corn on cob
1 tbsp olive oil
Pinch salt and pepper
1/2 tsp paprika
2 tsp harissa paste
Parsley, to garnish

Method //
1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees C.
2. Boil corn for 10 mins (this makes it easier to cut).
3. Slice corn in half (vertically) and then chop into quarters. You need a sharp knife!
4. Combine all seasoning ingredients in a small bowl, mix well.
5. Arrange corn on a lined baking tray and spoon the seasoning on top, evenly covering all “ribs”.
6. Bake for 20-30 minutes, turning occasionally.
7. Garnish with parsley and serve with you choice of dipping sauce - we mixed hummus and harissa paste to create this spicy, creamy sauce 💯
