The 8th issue of Aguas del Pozo/Waters of the Well is now available. Although all of our works can be read in English and Spanish, they also appear as originals or translations to Korean, Chinese, Bulgarian, Euskera, French, Hebrew, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, and Russian. This time, the number of languages amounts to fourteen with the translation of the short story “Un repique en la madrugada”/ “The ring at Dawn” by David Tang to Vietnamese: Tiếng Chuông lủc Bình Minh.

Among those featured we have, this time as a photographer, the renowned translator Emilia Yulzari. We also present an article, from Dr. Maida Watson Espener as well as the writer Rodolfo Pérez Valero, to whom we are grateful for having allowed us to publish his magnificent and disturbing tale “Un hombre toca a la puerta, bajo la lluvia”/“A man knocks at the door, under the rain,” finalist of the 1992 Black Week of Gijón, Spain award. Dr. Vicente Chacón Carmona (Vi Ch Car) from the University of Seville translated the original story by Giuliano Migliori from Italian into Spanish.

In this publication, we also celebrate the participation of several colleagues from the Department of Romance Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Doctors Tamara Cabrera, Julia Cardona Mack Mack, and Oswaldo Estrada. As well as Sarah Booker, Sam Krieg, y Giuliano Migliori Migliore, doctorate students. Cardona, Estrada, and Migliori in their capacity as narrators, Cabrera, as a translator; Booker, as a translator, and Krieg analyzes a collection of contemporary stories, Malacostumbrismo/ Misbehaving (2012), by Puerto Rican author Carlos Vázquez Cruz.

Also appearing in this eighth issue are texts of the following writers who passed through our literary workshop (Span 394: Creative Writing in Spanish) during the spring of 2018: Mac Harrison, Sarah Kelly, Gray Kinnier, Makala Moyer, Mariah Moyer, Katie Nash, Kendall Parker, Paulina Powierza, Kacey Rigsby, Sophia Sheats, Ginna Suárez, and David Tang. As well as former students: Anna Anna Elizabeth Mukamal (translator), Karl VonZabern (photographer) and Barrett Caison who kindly translated the Editorial for this number.
