*Imposition and Hike of Transportation Price by the Executive Chairman of Degema LGA Faulty and not in the best interest of Tombians*

The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Degema Local Government Area highly condemn the imposition and hike of transportation fare by the Executive Chairman of Degema Local Government Area, Hon. Michael John Williams. The decision taken to stop the People's ABS (Registered) is unfair, unjust and doesn't reflect the interest of the good people of Tombia.

You would recall that, the Boat Drivers union earlier increased the price of boat transportation from #400 to #500 without the increase in fuel price, which the people lamented about but fell on deaf ears. Some concerned citizens brainstormed and an alternative boat Union was given birth. Shortly afterwards, a new price of #250 was set as benchmark for the new union and that brought a breath of fresh air which came to a screeching halt because of the Council Chairman's interference.

It is alarming, repulsive and a slap on the faces of the good people Tombia for the Chairman to ask the ABS to stop functioning as against the wish of Tombia people. We therefore, advice the Chairman of Degema Local Government Area to;

1. Allow market forces determine the price and not peg price for the transportation sector.

2. Come up with holistic transport policies after due consultation with relevant stakeholders in the sector

3. Provide conducive environment for all Delgans including the ABS, to go about their legal businesses without forcing them to be subordinates to a Government controlled union.

4. Allow the Tombia people choose the transport company they choose to use without forcing any on them.

5. To adopt the principle of Laissez-Faire because competition protects the consumer from unnecessary price hike

Immediate Past Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Nigeria Ports Authority NPA, Rt Hon *Dr. Sokonte H. Davies* was today admitted as a *Fellow* of the Nigerian Institute Of Management (Chartered) in accordance with the bye-laws of the institute and authorized to use the designation of *FNIM*.

He was recognized alongside other fellows at the 2021 Annual National Conference held in Abuja.

High Chief Emeka Beke Consults Rt. Hon. Sokonte H Davies Ph.D

High Chief Emeka Beke an illustrious Rivers son and former secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State pays a consultation visit to the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Degema Local Government Area Rt. Hon Sokonte H Davies Ph.D to acquaint him of his intent to contest for the Chairmanship of the party in the State in the fourth coming state Congress election.

Chief Emeka Beke in his speech said he has come to to identify himself with the good people of Degema, seeking for support and counsel to enable the party succeed and take over the brick house come 2023.

Chief Emeka promised to work hand in hand with Dr Sokonte Davies also promising never to interfere with the decisions of the party in Degema, stating that his major interest is the party winning elections in the state.

In response, Dr. Sokonte Davies thanked the team for coming and commended the Chairmanship Aspirant for taking the decision to meet with the leaders of the party and not taking anything for granted. He promised that the party members and delegates in Degema Local government area will give total support to him in the coming congress.

Chief Emeka Beke was accompanied by his team and party faithfuls.

Life's mysteries have no telling. Our paths did not cross until the politics of the People's Democratic Party in Degema LGA brought us together in 1999. And once they crossed, you have maintained a consistency as a big brother, friend and ideological ally.

As the voice of Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between 2007 and 2015, you left no one in doubt of your legislative prowess. A true progressive with more of a communist orientation beholden only to the greatest good for the greater number, you walked out of the insanity in the PDP when the actions of her leaders troubled the soul and serenity of our dear Rivers State. Here is where I would say the ideological orientation as a Rivers patriot inculcated in your early years in politics on the platform of the Rivers Progressive Forum in the Old Rivers State of the mid-1980s came to full fruition. As a young secondary school student, I can never forget those sessions at the Alfred Diete-Spiff Civic where the RPF raised the stage for re-engineering the Rivers State and the Kimse Okokos, Walter Ollors, Willie Okowas, etc breathe life into fresh thinking on the way forward for the coming century. No wonder you stood for Rivers State and walked away from political convenience when the boat rocked in 2013. You literally took your destiny in your own hands by moving with the Zion Train to the All Progressives Congress in 2014.

Other events have come and gone to test your political will and you have never failed to acquit yourself well as a stern, stable and God-fearing character. I would simply say that we do not change because circumstances changed. We change only when that change is inevitable; is bound to be progressive and leave humanity way better. This is one feature we share and I dare say with profound humility that we both drew that attribute of firmness from our respective cradles.

Happy birthday and congratulations, our dear Leader.

*The Good People Of Degema Local Government Area Celebrates His Excellency Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi CON @ 56*

Degema Local Government Area witnessed an unusual kind of celebration that defied the norm, One that is befitting of a Trans-Generational Leader, The Former Governor of Rivers State and Honorable Minister for Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

Across the length and breath of the LGA, from the peaceful island of Bakana to the very hospitable people of Tombia, the joy and and expression of the people's gratitude to a former Governor who delivered good governance and democracy was very visible.

From the visibly excited *young children* to the elderly ( both men and women), it was another opportunity to express sincere appreciation to the Almighty for keeping a Man who has very massively touched their lives in diverse ways.

The leader of the LGA *Rt. Hon. Sokonte Davies Ph.D* was also on ground to felicitate with the people as he toured round the LGA to join each community cut their cake.

The Celebration which kicked off in Bakana Town Hall, had him ( The LGA Leader) make stops at Degema Consulate where Party Leaders and *School Children* greeted him in excitement. The celebration was concluded in Tombia Kingdom with Party and Community Leaders even from Bukuma in attendance.

*Dr. Davies* appreciated the good people of Bakana, Degema Consulate, Bukuma & Tombia, *particularly the School Children* for coming out in solidarity to celebrate the people oriented leader, the Performing Minister for Transportation *His Excellency Rt. Honourable Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi*,
He further encourage them to remain steadfast and prayerful, spreading love and Peace round the LGA at all times, he also received defectors back to the progressive fold.

It was indeed a very colourful and memorable event, and we return all Glory to God.
