Radio Caña Negra: Porque No Somos Morenas (Black Since Birth)– This podcast centers social and political realities of people of African descent throughout Latin America and the United States.
Produced by three Central American-U.S. Black women, macheteras Evelyn Alvarez, Janvieve Williams Comrie, and Dash Harris Machado, the podcast tackles the historical and present-day white supremacist hegemonic power structures, hierarchy, and pigmentocracy that continues to pervade the American continent and the analysis, reflection and praxis to deconstruct it.
With the sharpness of a machete, we discuss and share, and with the sweetness of cane sugar we laugh and heal focusing on issues related to Black people from Latin America.
The Caña Negra workshop series critically address how Non Black Latinx individuals, groups and actions have historically, and are currently perpetuating anti-blackness both within and outside of the Latino community.
