“Clare” - Directed by Lauren Minnerath

Lauren Minnerath explores aspects of life that often go unnoticed. Following Clare’s experiences we learn that life can get much harder than expected…

“Set in a dying community on the Iron Range of northern Minnesota, CLARE begins at the start of Clare Barrow’s senior year of high school. Like most teenage girls, Clare is longing for love, acceptance and a sense of purpose in the world. Unfortunately, after her brother’s he**in overdose, she also has to grapple with trauma well beyond what any seventeen year-old should have to deal with.

Feeling alienated and rudderless, Clare leans into her connection with her high school French teacher, Mrs. Larsson, who recognizes and encourages her intellectual curiosity and desire to attend her dream school, Harvard. Soon, Clare is eating lunch with and confiding in her favorite teacher every day. As their relationship develops, the women become inseparable, gradually crossing boundaries that spiral out of control and cause much more harm than either could have ever anticipated”.
