KLUDGIT SOUND - since 1976.........

KLUDGIT SOUND is one of the most well‐known and respected recording studios in New Mexico with a splendid history of providing stellar and quality music recordings.

The studio was designed by the legendary award winning engineer Baird Banner and opened for business in 1976. Along with John Wagner's studio in Albuquerque, Kludgit Sound was the first multitrack studio in the state of New Mexico. Built inside a beautiful late-1800's cut stone building. The historic building started as a horse stable then became a small town opera house, after that it became the first Masonic Lodge in New Mexico (while The Scottish Rite Temple was being built). Baird found the building while playing drums for the New Mexico psychedelic bluegrass band ‘The Family Lotus' ‐ when many of the band members lived in and around the village of Cerrillos.

Many famous (and not so famous) musicians, poets and radio commercials have recorded here. We've loved working with them all!...well, most of them, except the one musician,who shall-not-be-named, pulled a gun on the engineer. Nothing happened, the gun was put away and the studio got paid. Needless to say, he was never allowed back in the studio. Whew!

Here's just ‘some’ of the talented people who’ve recorded here;
