Nothing helps put life into perspective than a visit to the emergency room.

While I laid in bed waiting for the result of the blood work and CT scan, it just dropped in my heart that this is the same way people wait only to be told that they had incurable ailment or one with a 50/50 chance of survival, or something else equally bad.

For these people, everything else in life will lose their importance… While waiting, all of the things I’d been anxious about lately didn’t matter. My focus was prayer and acknowledging how ungrateful I’d been to God…

As we enter the year 2024, I encourage us all to focus more on the things God has done for us rather than what he hasn’t done. Focus on what’s really important because in the larger scheme of things, He holds our lives in His hand. Let gratitude be our attitude in 2024. Compliments of the season, friends.

This is a root of an Acacia specie, it is a contraceptive used by Africans in Ancient times. It was chewed by women about once a week to prevent pregnancy. This method still works and there are no side effects.

Shaka Zulu, the leader of the Zulu Kingdom in present day South Africa from 1816 to 1828, once said he doesn't need bodyguards because even the bravest of men were scared of him. He was assassinated by his half brothers, Dingane and Mhlangana.

Our Story

Echoes Africa Magazine is a United States based bi-monthly publication established with the primary objective of telling the African story; African stories told by Africans themselves and not as presented by the western media. We feel Africa should tell its own story to the world, rather than leave it in the hands of others who mostly focus on negative news about the continent. The thinking being that for every negative story coming out of Africa, there are several other positive ones that go untold. Presenting balanced accounts of issues is the hallmark of professional journalism and what Echoes Africa magazine is about. Echoes Africa magazine is available in both print and digital versions.
