FF009 sees Bristol-based DJ and producer K-65 join the GAB family.

Most well-known for his subby basslines and ability to cut breaks across multiple tempos, K-65 has more recently incorporated elements from the dark underground world of electro. His productions now fuse acid, wubs and 808s with whipping snares and rolling breaks. Aiming to make hard hitting tracks for the UK’s dancefloors, his productions strive to be high in energy and dark in flavour.

And unsurprisingly K-65 does not disappoint with “Enter.” Disguised vocals pair with malevolent acid lines to build to a truly cursed drop where K-65’s signature wubs meet an off-kilter percussive melody. This one will make you p**s your pants.

This week it is our absolute pleasure to welcome Bakey onto our series with a very special 100% Productions mix!!!

First capturing the UK’s attention through a number of viral edits, Bakey has gone on to establish himself as an integral figure in the contemporary UKG and Breaks scene through releases on Time Is Now, ec2a, Breaka Recordings, Pineapple Records and many more. Bakey’s sharp production is matched by his finesse in the booth. Guest mixes on Rinse, Balamii, sable and Subtle have allowed Bakey to secure bookings across the UK, shutting down venues with 23 Degrees and Keep Hush.

For his GAB guest mix, Bakey has chosen to weaponise his arsenal of unreleased material. Kicking things off with an acid-ridden soulful breakbeat number, Bakey smoothly navigates his way through dubstep-infused breaks and sinister 2step, to close with a couple of simply outrageous edits.

The mix is now available on our Keakie channel and will be uploaded to SoundCloud later on this week.

For the 53rd edition of our mix series we are honoured to welcome in two absolute titans of the Leeds scene, Demello & Dialect.

Hyde Park-born Josh Demello is one of Leeds’ leading DJs and promoters best known for his house and techno selections and his events company Ruckus24. Playing his first set at Leeds West Indian Centre at just 10 years old, Josh went on to secure a year-long residency in Egypt with Ministry of Sound and a number of club residencies in Ibiza. Demello’s eclectic collection, developed from many trips to Tribe Records and his work with Constant Sound, is exhibited in this mix showcasing the freshest underground UKG.

A staple of the Leeds grime scene, Dialect was one of the first Northern MCs to gain recognition across the rest of the country for his sharp wit, unrivalled flow and raw energy. Following in the footsteps of his father Rev Chunky, Dialect has been making music since the age of 16 and has taken part in rap battles across the world, including performances on Radio 1 Xtra, Lord Of The Mics, Don’t Flop, SBTV & Tim Westwood TV, and captaining a team for Red Bull’s “Grime-a-side” competition. With backing from the MOBOs on his future releases, we can’t wait to see what Dialect’s got in store for the rest of 2022.

FF004 sees Manchester-based producer Dulha step up with an eerie lesson in bass weight. Grime leads and fleeting vocals meet dubstep drums in an unique production ready to bless your headphones and the dance floor.

Through releases on Interpolate, Jerk It International and Daytimers, Dulha has shown his versatility in production across 140s, breaks, jungle and electro. His precise sound design and ability to fuse a number of disparate styles has gained Dulha support from Tañ, Kitsta and Gina amongst others.

DJ CDQ burst onto the scene in April 2021 with his outrageous debut “ILLEGAL EDITS EP” released on Belters Mag. The Bristol-based producer has consistently impressed through a series of seriously “sexy garage bangers”, to quote Belters, as well as a tasty release with In The Deep.

Tomorrow night we’ll be down at one of the cosiest spots in Leeds, Hyde Park Book Club, for a 4-hour evening takeover!

We’ll be switching things up from the usual chaos by playing some of our favourite acid jazz, hip hop, soul and disco records from 6-8. The final two hours will see us take things up from 130 to 170 in more typical GAB style! Lots of classic cuts, bootlegs and unreleased beauties at the ready 🤩

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION FOR TONIGHT

Afternoon everyone - while we’re very excited to be back at The Old Red Bus Station tonight for our monthly residency, the recent rise in cases of drinks spiking and injections that have been occurring in nightclubs in Leeds and across the UK is extremely distressing. We want to reassure you that the safety of all those attending our events is the number one priority for both us and Old Red.

It is undeniable that although all genders are affected by spiking, this issue disproportionately affects women and for this reason Old Red have made medics and a female bouncer available tonight, as well as having a dedicated medical area on site. These measures are in addition to those which had already been put in place such as more rigorous searching, use of metal detectors and the venue’s involvement in the “Ask For Angela” scheme. This is a discrete service that can be used by anyone feeling vulnerable or threatened to obtain assistance from venue staff.
