At the Pebble Beach Concours fell in love with a pair of Lagondas. Absolutely stunning.

Via - “Sunday the Elegance in Motion Award honored Lawrence Stroll from Warwickshire, United Kingdom with his beautifully restored 1954 Lagonda V12 Race Car (Chassis-DP115/2). This car was built as a backup to Chassis DP 115/1 that raced at Silverstone and Le Mans. The pair of cars appeared in the 1956 movie Checkpoint starring British actor and singer Anthony Steel.”

Lagonda was founded in 1899 and Aston Martin in 1913. The two brands came together in 1947 when both were purchased by the late Sir David Brown, and the company is now listed on the London Stock Exchange as Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings

Every time we cover an event, we try to capture as much detail as possible to give our readers as comprehensive a take as we're able to deliver.  One of the things any attendee of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance will be struck by is the sheer number of individuals involved in the production of the annual spectacle.  One image we always try to include in our coverage is that of a swarm of concours judges probing every aspect of a car on the field.  As we were going though our thousand + images from this year's show, we realized that we just happened to pick the perfect scene to capture the judges at work.

At the center of of this all is Fritz Burkard, educating the judges about his 1934 Bugatti Type 59 Sports, which was competing in the preservation-class.  Just a couple of hours after this moment was captured, this Type 59 was crowned Best of Show, the first Bugatti to take the prestigious award since 2003.  But what's more, its the first preservation-class car ever to win best of show in the 73 years the event has been held...a truly historic and impressive feat.

Some people say that you shouldn't meet your heroes. Those people are wrong. After a couple of years of following/trolling/stalking, we were finally rewarded when we ran into podcast legends Spike Feresten, Paul Zuckerman, and Jonny Lieberman from the international hit podcast, Spikes Car Radio, at The Quail. These guys couldn't have been more friendly and gracious. They were exactly the people we listen to every Wednesday afternoon and made us feel like friends, and not just followers. We came away from the experience on a new Car Week high plus we got some great podcast ideas, sage legal advice, and guidance on the proper way to transport illicit drugs (should that skill set ever become necessary). All in all, it's an experience we'll never forget.

We are still recovering and safely back to reality after our experiences. This year may have set the benchmark. We are still processing all of our photos and videos and putting our thoughts together so stay tuned in the coming days. For now enjoy just a brief sample.

We're concluding our Car Week 2024 with a bang at the 73rd Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. After a 4 am wake up and some complementary coffee and doughnuts from the fine people at , we hit the 18th fairway and started to capture the action as scores of the most beautiful, rare, and significant cars in the world took to the lawn. Please enjoy these images for now and come back in the next few days when we post our event report.

On this we look back at the 2005 the 32nd Monterey Historic Automobile Races, now known as the Rolex Monterey Motorsport reunion.

That year, the Chaparral cars of the Texan engineer, racer and oilman Jim Hall were honored as the featured marque.

This particular version is the Chaparral 2g. The 2G competed in CanAm races in 1967-68, scoring two wins. Jim Hall’s driving career ended in November 1967 when the Chaparral 2G he was driving struck the rear of another car and flipped over, pinning Hall and breaking both of his legs.
