the last year of sisterhood media feels like a victory lap. i am so grateful to have joined, unbeknownst to me at the time, the last lap of a great marathon run. working with a small team who moves with intention and purpose made my job feel fluid.

nick west is a 28-year-old writer from toronto. a published author and freelance editor, nick began writing at the age of eight, but television remained the goal.
nick rekindled his love for writing at UofT and has spent the last four years scratching and clawing at the door of the writers’ room. from writing at the bar after 12-hour shifts, to brainstorming in the shower at 4 in the morning, the goal has always been clear.
nick hopes to use the opportunity provided by blank canvas to make that jump to script coordinator, so that he can prove to his mother that people will hire you even if you’re black and tattooed to the hilt.
nick currently works as a COVID compliance officer on commercial sets because it affords him the time—too much time, really—to develop scripts on the go and constantly remain in production, even when away from the page. tune in tomorrow at 6pm as nick joins us ! 🛋️ 💫
