Mera aik bachpan ka dost tha, bara humanitarian tha. He could forge anyone's signature and used to sign report cards for students who feared backlash from their parents. I am sure there is a special reward for him in Jannah. Bari duayein akathi ki hain usne.

Khair, that wise guy used to say to us:

"Jhoot bolo magar confidence ke saath"

Shaza Fatima Khawaja personified that line today.

Jhoot bolo confidence ke saath.

In the last 24 hours, your overwhelming response to our Thalassemia Support Program at AlKhidmat Hospital Charsadda has brought hope to many young hearts and our team in Charsadda.

ALHAMDULILAH, we have raised PKR 260,000, but we still need PKR 1,24 Million to reach our minimum target which will cover the deficit for the quarter. Every contribution counts, whether it's a general donation towards the minimum target we have set ourselves for or sponsoring a child's yearly treatment for PKR 204,000 (PKR 17,000/month).

Your support can be the lifeline they need. Let's hit 100% today.

Thanks to Imran Khan, media is thriving. Single question from Shabbir Dar at Adyala sets off a chain reaction, with analysts/politicians weighing in from 7-11 pm. Likes of Hamid Mir earn a pretty penny, while cameramen secure 35K salaries.

Sasti journalism.

At Waseela Foundation, we distributed livestock among more families affected by disaster and poverty in Balochistan, ALHAMDULILAH. For our livelihood project, especially the livestock intervention, we select families that are struck by rural poverty and have prior experience in handling livestock.

Through this intervention, we have reached out to 15 families in the region. INSHALLAH, we hope to expand the program in the region and into also other areas of Pakistan as well.

Thanks to Waseela Foundation's team in Khuzdar (Younas Fareed and his team) for their support always. Special thanks to all those who contributed towards the project. May Allah SWT accept the efforts of all those who involved, bless all with great sustenance and His Mercy always, Ameen, Sum Ameen.

SOLUTION TO MAY 9: REVISIT PAST MISTAKES

No sane country would ignore attacks on its parliament, judiciary, or military without accountability. However, the case in the land of the pure is a bit complicated, or you can argue, it's pretty straightforward. The reluctance to pursue consequences too far stems from the fact that none of these institutions - be it the parliament, judiciary, or military have remained above reproach.

All are guilty for transgressing their limits. The military led establishment has attacked politicians and overthrown governments, even went to the extent to get one leader hanged. Politicians have attacked courts, government institutions and on May 9 we saw one party breaking all old records, where it went ahead and attacked military facilities. And, there's not much to say about the honorable judiciary other than the fact that it has been a concubine of the powerful almost always.

All have, at times, targeted each other, creating a complex web of blame and mistrust. Therefore, when the military raises the victim card and rightfully so in the case of May 9 attacks, it does not garner widespread sympathy due to its own actions in the past when officers and soldiers could seen climbing the walls of Prime Minister House to overthrow a sitting Prime Minister and for not showing remorse for it, till date. If the actions of October 12, 1999, can be excused, then perhaps other transgressions should be as well? PTI supporters will come up with their own manjan, in this regard.

One might argue, in the spirit of philosophical reflection, that if we pardoned past actions that overstepped bounds, why not extend the same leniency to present failures? This line of reasoning, however, only underscores the tragic cycle of inconsistency and the erosion of a just moral compass.

Therefore, if you want to fix May 9, you need to go back and fix October 12, 1999. Make everyone accountable and everyone has to start from their own home.

ISMAIL HANIYEH

In a powerful display of solidarity, Pakistan's Parliament convened a funeral in absentia for former Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, a poignant gesture that transcended partisan divides. Members from both the government and opposition benches came together to pay their respects, underscoring the deep-seated affinity between Pakistan and Palestine.

As Pakistan observes a national day of mourning, this symbolic tribute serves as a testament to the enduring bond between the two nations. It is a stark reminder that, even in the face of adversity, the international community can come together to honor the legacy of a leader who dedicated his life to the pursuit of peace and self-determination. The collective outpouring of grief in Pakistan's Parliament today stands as a resolute affirmation of the unshakeable ties between Islamabad and Ramallah.

Ismail Haniyeh, you will not be forgotten.

LOVE FOR AYISHA

It was the sixth day in the hospital. The ward was quiet, save for the occasional beep of the monitor or a child crying in pain. Inside were Baby Ayisha, Amna Sahar, and me, all waiting for Ayisha to fully recover. It was a moment filled with a mix of hope and helplessness.

At that time, I received a message from a very close friend. She wanted to build a well in honor of her niece, who wasn't doing well. "Can you tell me her name please?" I asked, so I could relay the request to our team to get the well done immediately and also to request the beneficiaries to remember the little girl in her prayers. Her reply took my breath away: "Her name is Ayisha, and she is not well."

Stunned, I couldn't quite place why her words hit so hard. She's an extraordinary woman - compassionate, loving, and one of the best mothers I have ever known. But more than that, it was her deep empathy that moved me. She could sense our struggle, feel Baby Ayisha's pain, and respond with a gesture of such unparalleled kindness.

And, on other hand, we live in a world where people speak without giving a thought before.

You know who you are. We are blessed to have you in our lives, ALHAMDULILAH. Your love for Ayisha, for us, is unmatched. We may never be able to repay your generosity in full, but know that you have touched our lives for eternity.

Your love for Ayisha is unparalleled. This is the water well you built for her. I visited it last month. The well gushed out such sweet cold water that I was a little stunned again.

May Allah SWT bless you and your loved ones with your own special fountains in Jannah and bless you with ease always, Ameen, Sum Ameen.

IDF OR US - WHO IS WORSE

Sometimes I wonder what disturbs me more — the IDF oppression in Gaza or the lynchings we witness in our own bazaars here in Pakistan.

A federal report on the Swat lynching case states that "the suspect denied committing blasphemy while in police custody," yet neither the station house officer (SHO) sought guidance from higher-ups nor moved the suspect to a safe location.

So, what should we do in this scenario? Lazy activism would suggest boycotting Swat like we boycott Subway. Effective activism would build pressure on the government to reform or completely rewrite the law to prevent its misuse.

Are you up for lazy activism or actual change?

HOW TO BALANCE ETHOS IN PUBLIC SPEAKING

There isn't a strict technical path or flowchart to follow to balance between ethos and public speaking. The guiding principle is straightforward: speak the truth, relate the information if it’s relevant to the audience or generally applicable, be kind, demonstrate through actions that you stand by your words, and choose your words carefully. If you can't do these, it's better to remain silent.

Be like a palm tree. Stand tall, offer fruit and provide shade. That's all you need to know about credibility, ethos.
