Second Skin - Two Vast and Trunkless Legs of Stone [IPS003]
This is an album about contrasts; about difficult, harsh moments meeting tranquil, beautiful ones. About the cyclical nature of life and of civilizations, and the mixed feelings when approaching the ruins of yesteryear. These melodies and drones are full of emotions and depth.
The Netherlands-based artist released her debut EP "Rhizoma", a split with American artist Avlaki, earlier this year. Her music can generally be described as heavily textured and slow-moving drones, electronic in sound while still flowing naturally back and forth like waves crashing to shore. Add to that beautiful chords, pads, and melodies that are embedded in the mix and you get a beautiful ocean of sound to get lost in.
