One thing about the music industry is that it's competitive. There are so many other people out there who have the passion for music just like you do. While it's important to understand that you're among many who are trying to get the same job as you, it's also important to not lose hope too quickly when searching for a job in the music industry. Don't let a couple no's stop you from succeeding & accomplishing your dreams. Keep sending those emails, keep applying to your dream jobs, keep making connections. You'll look back at that consistency & realize how much it really helped you get to where you want to be!

💫SALARY TRANSPARENCY SERIES PT. 3💫
The third part of our salary transparency series has everything from management assistants to production assistants! We hope that our salary transparency series will help people feel more confident when it comes to negotiating their salary or make someone more comfortable with what they're being paid. Salary shouldn't be a taboo topic & we hope that with more & more people talking about it less & less people will be taken advantage of. Thank you for everyone who has participated in this series! We hope to continue it as we get more responses.💕

You can submit your salary anonymously here→ https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScEMsVg0dM_oWBbzlAnwyjdsJ0ZvY2A7sFtE1R85-z1ppDE8Q/viewform

This includes having strict boundaries & making sure your work week & your weekend are separate. Take a peak at some tips to unplug this coming weekend (and in the future)!✨

💫MUSIC INDUSTRY SALARY TRANSPARENCY SERIES💫

If you haven’t seen our stories, we are starting a industry salary transparency series! Because our overwhelming responses from marketing professionals we decided to do this one first. You can swipe to see job title, where they live, & their salary! All responses are anonymous. We hope this series can help women negotiate & not be taken advantage of when start off or growing in the industry.

If you would like to participate, please fill out this google doc: https://forms.gle/uMUiYrQ3v9nhrQiK8! We’re still looking for responses in management positions, photographers, production, touring, etc. If we get more answering for marketing we will do an additional one for that as well.

Thank you & we hope you enjoy this series! 💗

May is mental health month and while you probably see these tips everywhere, we think giving you another reminder doesn’t hurt anyone! Mental health is a very broad issue- so we are in no way saying that these 5 things are an automatic fix- but self care & putting yourself first is so important to a start in any mental health journey. 💗

Hello everyone! We want to thank you all for your support of our passion project, formerly known as Women in the Music Industry (WIMI). It has been brought to our attention that we have been incorrectly associated and confused with Women in Music (). In anticipation of the continued growth of our beloved community, we have taken the past month off to rebrand as The Wavelength Collective!
Wavelengths in music are the space between high points of a sound wave. We believe that women working behind the scenes in the music industry are the driving force that take brands, projects, companies, and more to their highest potential. With intentions to eventually expand our project into a business offering artist management and marketing services, we believe our new title, The Wavelength Collective, is a great reflection of our mission and goal to serve women working behind the scenes in the music industry. We are happy to be back and look forward to continuing to bring you the best features, industry tips, and more starting in May!

Thank you all very much again for your time and support.

With love,
💗 The Wavelength Collective Team .athena

Nastia puts into words perfectly how it can feel to be part of the music industry! We sometimes underestimate the impact music has on people, but the truth is music can be comforting, uplifting, relatable.. & so much more. Being a part of something that can change lives is unbeatable. 🎶💖

Happy International Women’s Day ✨ WIMI is all about supporting women who do amazing things behind the scenes in the music industry. However we also are always learning ways to support women in our everyday lives, as well! We’ve come up with a few ways you can support women in the workplace. We hope we can start seeing other women who succeed before us as something to celebrate, and then continue encouraging those who succeed after us. We’ll grow so much more after we start seeing eachother as inspiration rather than competition. 💖

In continued celebration of Black History Month, the WIMI team wanted to take the time to highlight these 6 incredible organizations which create resources, community, and opportunities for Black creatives and music industry professionals. 02/02/2022

As we welcome Black History Month, Women In the Music Industry would like to encourage all members of our community to reflect on the many contributions of Black Americans to the music industry and beyond. Black music creators, managers, producers, attorneys, photographers, marketers, and more have defined and transformed our culture since the very beginnings of the music industry.

Each February, we experience a collective acknowledgement of the hardships and struggles that Black music industry professionals face. We would like to urge that it is just as important to place that acknowledgement in action. Ask yourself: “What can I do now to ensure that my Black colleagues feel valued, heard, and respected?” Together, we can accomplish so much, this month and every month after. Never forget that one unwavering commitment to progress and change sparks another.

In solidarity and with love,

The Women in the Music Industry Team
