Back in June, critically acclaimed indie rock sensation Frank Palangi released what has been called his most exciting record to date. Hailed left, right and center by even the most discerning rock music critics and fans, it was one of several highly anticipated tracks that the fast-rising independent rock star, who made his debut just over a decade ago, has released this year; and a record that according to many could be the “big one” that could end up catapulting him into the big leagues alongside top rock artists and bands like Day of Fire, who he worked with in the early days of his illustrious indie music career.
The release date for Frank Palangi's forthcoming single, "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" has just been announced. The single went live for pre-order this week on selected music services including Amazon MP3 and has been scheduled for release on iTunes, Spotify and all top digital music services on the 23rd of May. Frank has been promoting the new record since as far back as October, 2018 and the official release for download and streaming is as highly anticipated as it has been well-received. In fact it's his most highly anticipated original record since his "Set Me Free" EP, the EP which marked an all time high in the New York independent solo rock star's career shortly after celebrating 7 illustrious years as one of Brooklyn's most successful and highly revered independent rock musicians back in 2017. He released footage of one of his first performances of the track at a gig in New York shortly after he made the announcement.
California's favorite country girl, Christie Huff is an independent artist that is not just a pleasure to listen to and watch, but who knows how to keep her fans smiling off stage as well. Her new web series, Christie's Couch Sessions makes sure of that and has worked well to keep fans who can't get enough of her happy in between gigs and new music releases. It started just over a year back and it has garnered tremendous support from country and pop fans not just in the region, but far and wide as well.
Berlin singer songwriter, Kileza was granted a license to busk in the city of London back in 2019, and she has been making massive waves on the UK capital’s buzzing live music scene ever since. This week, the emerging German R&B sensation confirmed her first London gig of 2020 which will be taking place at the famous Fitzrovia cocktail bar, The Lucky Pig on the 21st of January. Tickets and dates are available on the Skunk Radio Live Events page.
Released on the 1st of January, “Closure” is the debut single by Birmingham, UK pop band Lyon Tide, which was recently signed to Italian music company Open Productions, which brought us the iconic independent Italian rock band Amycanbe. Much like Amycanbe’s, Lyon Tide’s sound is deeply satisfying – you’ll feel accomplished and fulfilled just for having hit the play button when you did.
Hardly any genre of music is capable of painting a picture of love as vivid and moving as classical music, and when it's done correctly, paying attention to even the most minute of details, it could literally send chills up your spine and give you goose bumps all at the same time. French classical artist, Mr Jacques showed us how it's done on this week's Skunk Radio Live Auditions with his rendition of this track which was originally written and composed by American composer and songwriter, Cole Porter for the musical, "Kiss Me, Kate" way back in 1948. Instantly slow the pace and add a touch of elegance and prestige to your music playlists with this and fine tune your ears to the subtle organic tones, variations, timbres and textures that make us all tingle a little bit inside, and are also the very building blocks of most of the music we hear today.

Music Review: She Wants To Ride In My Chevy by Vassae | Hip Hop Song | Stream free | Soundcloud |
One of those records that goes down well at sundown when the lights are low and the liquor is flowing. This will take you back to the days of Warren G and Nate Dogg, light you a fat one and put you in the driver's seat of a brand new Chevy. It's super smooth, sexy, relaxing and will instantly bring out the mac in you. Not ideal for baby-making playlists since it's nasty, filthy, raunchy and explicit all the way through but it's perfect for b***y call playlists, one night stands and for when you are on your way to the strip club after turning your OOO autoresponder on at 5:01 PM on Friday night, after a hard week's work obviously.
This is one of those albums you won't be able to help but add to every single one of your genre appropriate playlists whole. Each track on this massive 12 song album passes as a chart worthy hit single. Crystal's unique voice and performance style will have you blown away track after track without even letting you catch your breath - you won't need to, it's that good. This is one of those albums that'll make you forget you even have a skip button, you'll have no use for that at all. Whether you are looking for a few good songs to liven up your day or you are desperate for a really good music fix, this is the only album you need to listen to. It will change how you feel about pop music forever and introduce you to a side of R&B you never knew existed.

A Little Something To Get You Through Another Covid Day
Released back in the summer of 2020, this warm, exciting record is uplifting and soothing in ways you’ll never really be able to explain to anyone. It’s got a pure, refreshing vibe and a groove that will have you on cloud 9 without actually having to go anywhere (err, err, sound familiar? quick, pack some snacks). Sunny, down to earth and deceptively lowkey, it will instantaneously whisk you away to a happy and peaceful place in your mind where the only thing that matters is celebrating the sun. It won’t grab you by the shoulders and shake you vigorously while screaming at you to look alive and just Dance! It’s one of those compassionate and understanding tracks that will massage your soul softly and relentlessly at the same time until you inevitably give in and let go. Times may be hard now but don’t worry, everything will be alright. You already found the perfect song to get you through another Covid day, and your second Covid summer; so obviously you are on the right track (pun intended, too easy). Hopefully you’ll get through the day without somebody sneezing and sending you straight into panic mode, where you probably just escaped from. Enjoy.

Listening to indie (independent) music on Spotify, Tidal, Amazon and Apple Music, and downloading indie music releases on iTunes, Google Play Music and Amazon mp3 doesn’t need to be a hassle. With SRL’s easy to use music discovery apps, websites and services, you’ll only ever be one click away from discovering what is new and what is hot in the world of independent, indie, underground and unsigned entertainment worldwide.
With millions of new artists and bands, both professional and amateur, all promoting new songs, albums, EPs, mixtapes and music videos at the same time on social media services, it could sometimes be overwhelming when trying to discover new artists or music. Discovering new artists in today’s music climate is much different from what it used to be. Previously, all music fans had to do was turn on the radio or television - whether it was BBC Radio, BET, MTV, read a magazine like XXL, NME, Q, Mojo, The Fly, Uncut, Kerrang!, New Musical Express, Music Week, Classic Rock, Metal Hammer, Rollingstone, Mixmag or Word, or head over to your local mainstream or independent music record store, but nowadays it’s much more complicated. Record stores and traditional media outlets are slowly reducing everyday with profits dropping owing to the rise of online music outlets and entertainment services. These online services and apps are great, the only downside is that they all boast over 40 million songs and albums each, and each one is competing to be the highest quality and cheapest at the same time so they’ll do anything to shove all those 40 million tracks in your music player at once. For the old school music fan who was used to CDs, vinyl and cassette tapes, the idea would have sounded amazing, but in practice, having anything more than a ten thousand songs on your music player will create nothing but chaos. Your playlists will be overpopulated at lack any sense of genre, your favorite albums will be buried so far in your music collection and your own memory that you won’t even remember them, and your music listening habits could change completely from being a pleasant experience to a tasking activity that usually ends up in performing endless organisational and administrative tasks as you try to reorganize your music, put them in folders or playlists or separate them into genres or whatever.
If you’ve ever had the problem of too much music, and many of us music fans have, then you’ve come to the right place. Unlike most music promotion companies and leading music businesses, SRL caters to the niche market that is indie music. Indie music is music created, distributed and promoted independently of any mainstream record label (i.e. the big 3 record labels - Universal, Sony and Warner). In today’s music industry, and in the past as well, there have been artists who claim to be independent but whose so-called independent/indie record labels are distributed by mainstream record labels or signed to mainstream record labels for other purposes whether publishing, management or whatever. At SRL, we consider such indie labels and artists as mainstream labels/artists since that is essentially what they are. SRL focuses on promoting artists and bands with no major label affiliation whatsoever. Our niche market is made up of fans of unsigned and underground artists however, we are not anti-mainstream. In fact, we work with major record labels and industry professionals to find new singers, songwriters, producers, DJs, composers and entertainers for their rosters in addition to promoting the aforementioned talent. Our vast knowledge of songs available in the world of indie music and how to navigate it means we also come in very handy to music publishers, advertisement agencies and music licensing agencies looking for music for synchronization whether for use in film, television, radio or other media promotion/advertisement campaigns.
