Today -right before opening we realized a pipe had fractured in our ceiling. It cut off the water to our dish pit, making it impossible to wash dishes, silverware, glasses, etc. We wrestled with whether or not we could stay open or if we would have to be closed today, and decided we would stay open until we ran out of clean plates, then we have to stop. My entire staff were magic. Working extremely hard and able to create beautiful pastry and entrées but more so that we were happy you came and we could do what we love the most -serving Spokane. Everyone left, exhausted and just as I was ready to leave, this is the note that someone wrote on our chalkboard as you enter chaps. So I want you to know dear secret chalkboard, messenger and Spokane. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for being patient. Thank you for being supportive. Thank you for waiting your turn. Thank you for driving here in the cold. Thank you for believing in small business, “you are also loved.” Your friend Celeste.

‼️ ALERT. Sunday morning, January 14 Chaps will be closing at 11 AM. Although we’ve done everything to prevent any damage from the current cold weather, we have several pipes that are fractured. We’re trying to do the repairs however with no water in some areas of the café and minimal water in the others we will be forced to work only half a day. We have pastry coffee and breakfast ready. We will be open from 8 AM to 11 AM today.
