SoCal folks:
Tropical Storm Hilary is on a path toward SoCal and is expected to be a tropical storm by the time the storm reaches the SoCal coast Monday after being a major hurricane off the coast of Baja. This is definitely something to keep an eye on in the coming days. The primary concerns are strong winds and street flooding! 🌀⛈️

Southern California: A series of storms for next week!

There’s a series of set ups for some rain and snow next week with a series of troughs blasting through throughout next week. Kind of another atmospheric river event in a sense, but with temperatures 10-25 degrees below average! Snow levels and accumulations will vary depending on where exactly the surface temperatures are at, but I would not be surprised to see snow levels down to around 2000-3000 feet at times next week! 🌧️❄️

***OUTDATED***

7AM Tropical Update: NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center continues to monitor a disturbance along the northeastern Gulf of Mexico for a possible cyclone formation. A slow development of this system is expected as it moves westward. The probability of cyclone formation in the northwestern Gulf in the next 5 days is still LOW (20%).

30/05/2022

8AM Tropical Update (5/30/22):

For those interested in the tropics: The NHC is monitoring a possible cyclone development near the Yucatan peninsula around mid-week or in the northwest Caribbean by the end of the week. This is partially related to remnants of Hurricane Agatha from the eastern Pacific. At this time, this disturbance does not pose a threat for Southeast TX. However, this is a good reminder that the hurricane season in the Atlantic Basin and Gulf of Mexico starts very soon. Make sure you have a hurricane plan in place!

A lot of the northeast will be seeing some snow tomorrow into Sunday! The areas shaded in white have chances of seeing at least 4 inches of snow, areas shaded in green have chances of seeing at least 8 inches of snow, and areas in orange could be seeing a foot or more! The coastal areas may end up seeing some wet snow as well, especially with the help of cold air damming. So honestly, if you’re anywhere in the northeast, be prepared because winter is not going anywhere! ❄️

Being to the southeast of a developing low pressure center with this winter weather event means that we’ll have a layer in the atmosphere where it’s above freezing. Even though it’ll be in the 20s as highs, this winter weather event will probably mainly be an ice storm event with snow lovers like myself a bit disappointed
