“There has absolutely been an uptick in interest over the last few years in this [skilled trades] work” by women, Perez said. “I think that stems from a couple of different things: We’re talking about it more; I think schools are starting to implement more training programs internally; I think parents are looking for alternative to student loans and high-dollar degrees; and I think in general, as a society, we are seeing more women in these roles.”"
Women opened new businesses last year at rates that outpaced the market, including in traditionally male-dominated industries such as construction and manufacturing.

Texas Women in Trades and Girl with Grit are providing FREE OSHA-10 training for women during later this month. Attendees will receive OSHA training and certification. Additionally, the registrants will be paid for their time during the training. We will also have Ready to Work there to meet with the women and provide pipeline to employment opportunities. City officials, federal agencies, community organizations and stakeholders all assembled to share challenges/solutions within their industries. Part of our advocacy work includes sending tradeswomen into local schools to share their passion for the trade with young people. This week, founder Allie Perez, visited construction science students at Lanier. The high school then surveyed the students to gauge their response to the presentation. Loved seeing those comments. This is why we do what we do.

Target Audience: Middle School 8th Grade Girls (BIPOC population)

You can expect 6-(20 minute) rotations from groups of 10 students
