is over, but we are always celebrating. This week we will be sharing press coverage of our work and efforts during last week and beyond.

Many thanks to CNN Business for shining some much needed light on roles for women in non-traditional occupations.

https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/15/economy/sheconomy-women-opening-more-businesses/index.html

"Perez and Texas Women in Trades have focused on not only shining a light on those issues but also speaking with employers, unions and contractors to improve job standards. In recent years, she’s seen a noticeable shift.

“There has absolutely been an uptick in interest over the last few years in this [skilled trades] work” by women, Perez said. “I think that stems from a couple of different things: We’re talking about it more; I think schools are starting to implement more training programs internally; I think parents are looking for alternative to student loans and high-dollar degrees; and I think in general, as a society, we are seeing more women in these roles.”"

Women opened new businesses last year at rates that outpaced the market, including in traditionally male-dominated industries such as construction and manufacturing.

Part of our advocacy work includes sending tradeswomen into local schools to share their passion for the trade with young people. This week, founder Allie Perez, visited construction science students at Lanier. The high school then surveyed the students to gauge their response to the presentation. Loved seeing those comments. This is why we do what we do.
