Debra Khoo, founder of Merry Berry and mother to a 5 year old girl, understands that being comfortable is the defining factor of her child’s clothing choices especially in our tropical climate – her daughter had always been selective of her clothing material and would reject anything too scratchy or frilly. Debra has also always held an interest in sewing and experimenting, which stems from trips to the fabric shops and tailors with her mom as a young girl. With this in mind, she realised that there was a gap in the market for minimalistic children's wear, and made Merry Berry her mission to source for the perfect range of fashion dedicated to comfort, play, wellness and style.

This local slow fashion brand brings mindfulness to the table with ethical production, lasting organic materials with practical evergreen designs all in hand with small family businesses. Debra’s daughter, Marissa plays the biggest role in the business as her inspiration: “My daughter is my inspiration for my work. Her well-being and comfort are my biggest driving factors when creating clothes for Merry Berry. Being environmentally-conscious, I am also inspired by all things natural. By using fabrics that are made from natural and renewable fibres, we are going back to basics. Even after all these years of technological advancement in textile production, there is still no better alternative to natural fabrics, when you consider all things including environmental impact, comfort and elegance.”
