So much has happened in the last 10 years. I am proudly and gratefully actively in recovery, and have been clean/Sober from opioids (specifically pain pills) for 8 years now (Clean Date 3/24/16)I've been able to obtain & maintain (Move in date 7/27/15) my own apartment (First Apartment) living alone. I have obtained my driver's license ( for the first time) and because of so many amazing people like Apostle Kelly & Pastor Carla as well as My Mommy & Jackie I've been able to have owned 2 different Cars, My life over the last 10 years has moved slowly but progressively more positive change has been incredibly difficult and slow in its progress but I can look at that picture of then and of now and I can see the tangible results of being clean/Sober and having an amazing affirming home Church (church family) has been in my life. Seeing the "Then Pic" and remembering how dope sick I was that morning I woke up. How much I had to do that went against my morale and spiritual beliefs, as well as having to walk in the 90° sun 7 miles to be able to get drugs (Not to get high on but to just not be sick 🤢 and be able to feel like a normal human) and get back to my house(really my mom house which I was still living with the age of 26) to be able to get my fix, remembering as I took this very pic thinking 🤔 to myself will this ever end will I ever be able to change? Feeling as if I was nothing but worthless scum not ever God loved. I snapped the pic and uploaded it here as a reminder hopefully one day not to forget the spiritual physical mental emotional financial turmoil chaos self-loathing condemnation that I felt on 3-8-2014 and I can say that as I know look back today ten years later at this picture and re-read my personal notes I can see the difference I can see the positive spiritual physical emotional mental maturity I've learned in these 10 years. I know I am Blessed and I truly am so Greatly Grateful 🙏 to God and My Mommy&Jackie as well as my Friends and church family for walking this journey with me and for never leaving me behind when I stumble down y'all made sure to pick me up and hold my hand while we continued on this path, life is not about a destination just as recovery is not about a destination just as the salvation the love and the mercy of Jesus isn't about a destination but it is about walking a path living a life continuing to learn and grow and mature till connect and relate and empathize with one another I hope I can look back at this then and now and another 10 years and she just as many positive progressive maturing moves to better my life and those around me as I have on this day reflecting on my experiences in situations of 10 years ago!
