TONIGHT: A week off to rest is nice and refreshing, but coming back in with a night of relentless blast beats and sickness is even nicer. We’ve got a ton of new music to sift through tonight from legends like Black Dahlia Murder and Nile, as well as underground brutalizers like Adversarial and more. Plus, with today marking Juneteenth, we’re also shining a spotlight on crushing African-American contributions to the world of extreme metal in the first half of tonight’s show.

TONIGHT: 2024’s Maryland Deathfest has come and gone, and was one for the books. However, we still have one more show left for “MDF May”, this time turning the clock back a decade to my very first MDF experience in 2014. That year, I traveled to Baltimore for the first time, and was so enamored with the festival that I’ve continued to return for every MDF since then. Tonight, we’re digging into the lineup that solidified me as a Deathfest lifer, with classic crushers like Dark Angel, Candlemass, and Immolation, as well as contemporary brutalizers like Hooded Menace, Death Toll 80K, and Diocletian.

TONIGHT: Maryland Deathfest coverage continues! We’ve covered this year’s festival (it’s 19th iteration), now it’s time to turn the clock back 21 years to the very first MDF in 2003. Even in its earliest form, this is a festival that came out of the gate swinging with one of the most extreme lineups ever. Some of the sickest names in slam, brutal death metal, tech death, grind, all came together to form what is now 21 years later one of the most consistently killer ongoing festivals in U.S. metal history.

TONIGHT: It’s a day earlier than when we usually do this, but the show must go on and we’ve got plenty more 2024 coverage to get through. Last week, the first half of this special covered primarily all the sick death and gore bands playing this year’s festival. Tonight’s half will shift gears and focus on the more diverse aspects of the lineup with generous helpings of classic thrash metal, pure evil black metal, some crushing doom and blistering powerviolence, and then also some more sick death and gore too (cause you can never have enough of either).

TONIGHT: One of my favorite times of the year returns this month with the much anticipated resurrection of Maryland Deathfest. The nineteenth iteration of the festival, this year’s lineup is incredibly stacked from the biggest headlining names, down to the smallest names on the flyer. So stacked is this year’s lineup that, like in 2022, I had to break our annual Deathfest special into two shows, with tonight’s half of the special zeroing in exclusively on the sickest death metal and gore bands set to stink up the city of Baltimore in a few weeks.

TONIGHT: Modern thrash legends MUNICIPAL WASTE make their triumphant return to Fort Lauderdale next week playing at The Culture Room. To commemorate the occasion, our first hour we’re jamming some Waste and all their tourmates, a bunch of adjacent bands featuring various Waste members, and a bunch of other killer names in thrash both classic and modern. Plus our second hour tonight is all about classic heaviness, a couple of vicious brutalizers also hitting South Florida in the imminent future, and I also just saw Dune 2 this past weekend so that’ll factor in somehow too.

Germany’s Attic is finally back after seven years with more dead-on King Diamond worship, and then we also have a pair of super insanely killer shows hitting across South Florida this weekend. All this, plus the usual collection of killer cuts of speed, blackened, and classic heaviness.
