Greetings readers,
The July/August 2022 issue, my ninth, as editor of F&SF, has been winging its way around the world to you. If you're a subscriber and have not received your recent issue, please reach out to our Circulation Manager with your subscription info (DM so the kind soul isn't spammed by Facebook bots). The issue features work by great writers you know and some who are new to you, including Nick DiChario who has penned another one of his moving Italian folktales, Brian Trent, Charlie Hughes, Robert Levy, Nina Kiriki Hoffman, Paul Tobin, the multitalented James L. Sutter (photo below) with a music-themed tale, Beth Cato, Rajeev Prasad, Beth Goder, Robert Levy, Alexandra Munck, Nick Wolven, and Ellis Bray.
Our wonderfully weird cover art by Mondolithic Studios, in time for the last supermoon (the sturgeon moon), illustrates the cover story, “Starblind, Booklust, and Hearing the Songs of True Birds” by Rudi Dornemann. If you also follow us on Twitter, please share your favorite stories there, as quite a few F&SF writers are on 'Book Twitter', and they would welcome hearing from you. Readers are still discovering stories from our previous issues, and it has been good to see those excited threads. One author was invited to speak at MIT based on their story and another new writer was recently discussed as being the best debut in the past decade. How exciting!
Thank you for supporting F&SF and for making the magazine a 2022 Hugo Award Finalist in the Short Form category. As always, we appreciate your subscriptions and your renewals, your reviews, original story and poetry submissions, and your word-of-mouth! As you know, it is more than a notion being a print magazine in these challenging times, and we couldn't do it without you. Thank you!
All best,
Sheree Renée Thomas
