BNO News is a news organization that provides live coverage of breaking and developing stories, with impartiality, responsibility and fairness at its core values. BNO News also strives to provide its readers with greater access to official information, allowing them to personally assess the stories they care about. BNO News has long been known for breaking stories early, releasing an unpublished O
sama bin Laden videotape in 2007, reporting the devastating 2011 earthquake off Japan even before shaking had stopped, and reporting the 2014 disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 before major news agencies. BNO News traces its roots back to 2007, when Michael van Poppel launched the Twitter account. As one of the first to provide a real-time news service on Twitter, it quickly became one of the most-followed Twitter accounts, reaching 1.5 million followers when it was acquired by MSNBC.com in December 2009. Since January 2010, BNO News has provided various news organizations with a news wire service. In June 2015, the company launched a news website and re-established its social media presence, marking the first time since December 2009 that BNO News content is fully available to the public.
