What do we mean by "a better place?" lity and character. About our better place
In industry jargon, Highland Park is developed as a hybrid of the "new urbanism." One of the conceptual underpinnings of the new urbanism is many people feel most comfortable in a pedestrian-friendly interconnected community of familiar scale. Highland Park does not have the ambiance of a faux-reproduction or stage set, however. We imported salvaged street pavers (bricks) from the Midwest and Northeast. Street lights and sign posts throughout the community are honest-to-God cast iron, not the extruded aluminum, spun fiberglass, or those pressed concrete knock-offs to which we have become accustomed.
