𝙏𝙝𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙧𝙤𝙖𝙧 𝙖𝙨 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙤𝙖𝙧

UPHSD - Calamba opened its classes on August 14, 2024 with the banging of drums and festive colors.

The day kicked off with a powerful drumbeat, reverberating across the campus, signaling the commencement of the class opening. Students, teachers, and staff alike were greeted by array of balloons, each representing a vibrant house: Garnett (Red), Amethyst (Purple), Emerald (Green), Citrine (Yellow), and Sapphire (Blue).

The opening orientation emphasized its goal for Perpetualites to achieve the essence of ‘Character Building is Nation Building’

Sir Carlos Erwin Fajardo, Grade 11 Level Coordinator, reiterated in his speech the importance of self-discipline and the fundamental code of conduct for Perpetualites. The students were also informed about the basic rules regarding clinical and technological awareness, safety and security protocols, and Data Privacy Act.

Overall, the discussions underscored the institution's commitment to students' well-being and holistic development. UPHSD-Calamba's opening ceremony is a reminder of the resilience and unity that define the Perpetualite spirit. Through rain or shine, Perpetualites stand strong, ready to soar to new heights.

Mr. Meg-Ryan S. Reonal, LPT, Editor-in-Chief and Publication Consultant hones students through an intensive, feedback-style workshop to enhance journalists’ ethicality, integrity, and commitment to responsible youth journalism.

With the prevalence of fake news in today’s digitized media, he took into account the importance of writing a piece that does not only sell a story, but conveys the truth.

He emphasized the need for an intellectual and critical writing which should inform, entertain, and push readers to take action.

Guest Speaker Reonal also urged the campus publication to push for the agenda of attending Press Conferences from Divisions to the National Levels.

Due to the localized rising cases of the Pertussis Disease (Ubong Dalahit or Tusperina) in the Philippines, The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA - Calamba Campus has just declared a ‘Health Break’ on April 8, 2024 (Monday) on ALL LEVELS to prevent the transmission of disease on the campus grounds.

Due to this situation, The Department of Health (DOH) continuously monitors and coordinates with various LGUs and Health Professionals for vaccination treatments and prescription, and is guaranteeing the public that the disease is treatable and preventable.

Classes and activities will resume on April 11, 2024, Thursday, as we honor the Day of Valor (Araw ng Kagitingan) on April 9 and the Observance of Eid al-Fitr on April 10

Abril 3, 2024—Ikalawang araw ng pagdiriwang ng Linggo ng Matematika, nabiyayaan ng pagkakataon ang mga estudyanteng Perpetualite na makilahok sa libreng Calculator Seminar.

Pinangunahan ng Alam-Math, Mathematics Club, ang programa kasama ang kanilang kabakas sa pag sasagawa ng seminar, ang organisasyon na Calculator Mathematics at Karce Calculators Philippines.

Ang tagapagsalita na si Engr. Reynold Agustin na may akda ng iba't ibang edisyon ng Calculator Mathematics ay nag bahagi ng kanyang kadalubhasaan sa paggamit ng Calculator. Nagbigay ang Inhinyero ng samu't saring teknik at mga paraan upang magamit ang calculator na mas mabisa, sa paghanap ng kasagutan sa larangan ng Matematika.

Bahagi ng programa ay ang QnA, kung saan nagkaroon ng pagkakataong makapagtanong ang mga estudyante na masigasig na sinagot ni Engr. Agustin. Naging bukal ng inspirasyon ang mga naging payo ng Inhinyero para sa bawat estudyante sa madla nang naging paksa ng usapan ang kaniyang naging karanasan sa napili niyang larangan. Mula rito, pinatunayan niya ang pagkamakabuluhan ng Matematika sa buhay ng tao at kung gaano kalayo ang mararating sa pagbibigay ng kahalagahan dito.

𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 | 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐳 𝐁𝐞𝐞

Yesterday, April 3, 2024, competitors from both Grade 11 and Grade 12 engaged in the much-anticipated competition that centers around the different mathematical equations and the various complexities of problem-solving. The ALAM-Math commenced their fourth event of the week, the ALAM-MATH Quiz Bee.

The competition has three rounds. For easy round, they were given 10 questions, 1 point each, for them to solve for 30 seconds; for the average round, 8 questions, 3 points each, for them to solve for 60 seconds; and for the difficult round, 5 questions, 5 points each, for them to solve for 120 seconds.

As for the bright and mathematically-capable winners of the Alam-Math Quiz Bee Competition, it will be announced during the awarding ceremony tomorrow— April 4, 2024.

𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 | 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫

On this day, 2nd of April 2024, ALAM-MATH held their second event for this day, The Pasta Tower Competition.

Each team with five students from their section, were given an hour and a half to finish their Pasta Tower. Each team was given a set of seventy-five pieces of pasta and thirty pieces of marshmallows with an objective to build their tower. Each team will compete for the pinakaMATHganda (Most Beautiful), pinakaMATHaas (Tallest), and pinakaMATHibay (Strongest) Pasta Tower.

The winners from Grade 11 and Grade 12 will be announced on the awarding ceremony, April 04, 2024, Thursday at the University Gymnasium.

On this day, the most awaited Mathematics Week 2024 has officially commenced with the kick-off event, the Poster Making Competition.

Representatives from each section were given a two-hour limit to showcase their skills and creativity in creating a digital poster that best encapsulates this event’s theme, “Unlocking the Wonderland of Numbers: Playing with Mathematics for Fun and Discovery,” by using Canva.

The winners from Grade 11 and Grade 12 will be announced on the awarding ceremony on April 4, 2024.

𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 | Battle of the Bands

The destined time for these bands to show their relentless and moving music has commenced!

February 28, 2024 — at the University Gymnasium, various bands who made it to the preliminations performed under the flashing lights, showcasing their limitless talent and weaving harmonic tunes to connect with the audience.

Before the actual competition, an opening act was performed by the defending champions, "Humming Stems. With their lead vocalist, Althea Pinzon, they showed us a fierce and lively performance as they sang various songs which were able to hype the crowd to another level.

The main showcase of the show started as "Its Better to Burn out than Fade Away" stepped into the stage. Armed with their guitars and drumsticks, they shook the stage with an overwhelming delivery. Second on the lead, "The Iconic Band,” has moved the audience with their fantastic song choice which hyped the crowd to and made them got up from their seats. Following them is the group of SHS Students, "Rhythmic Aces," who prepared a reverberated rap and vocal performance led by their two talented vocalists and the amazing enterprise of the crew. With a show filled with tunes pertaining to upbringing and supporting one another, their band has reflected this trait and showed us a performance of camaraderie and unity — bringing our feelings together and shaking our stances.

In the middle of the hype and ecstatic performances, the "Altitude Band" has prepared an intermission that left us all singing-along and shouting and pouring our hearts out.

Last but not the least, the band "EVA" uncovered a talent in rapping and rocked their way to captivate the audience's taste.

Now that all of the bands have concluded their performances, this is a testament that all Perpetualites are as talented as they can be, especially in the repercussions of music. This can be proven true by the loud cheers and unending support of us to our fellow Perpetualites.

The awarding for the Battle of the Bands will happen on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

On February 28, 2024 — Senior High School representatives Drahneel Marasigan, Kenneth Once, Kyla Tercero, Julien Faelmarin and Bea Alcuran displayed exceptional intellect on the battle of wits.

They dominated their first game leading them to beat Technology Cluster.

Despite a long tough match against the Business Cluster in the semi-finals, Senior High School failed to advance to the next round and bagged an admirable third-place finish.

In today's thrilling volleyball exhibition match, the Alumni Team showcased extraordinary skills and teamwork — leading them to a well-deserved victory over the Faculty team.

The intense competition reached its peak in the decisive fifth set, where the Alumni excelled with a final score of 15-11 to claim the overall win.

The energy in the gym was electric as both teams pushed themselves to the limit, but the Alumni's determination and strategic plays ultimately secured their triumph. The cheering crowd witnessed an exciting display of athleticism and sportsmanship, as every point was fiercely contested by the spirited players. Overall, the match was a testament to the passion and dedication of both teams, highlighting the competitive spirit and camaraderie that define the sport of volleyball.

The varsities of the JBHS and Senior High School Department played against the Perpetual Alumni, as the representatives of the HUMSS Cluster did not appear in the gymnasium. The Basic Education Department tried to tie the scores but the strengths of the alumni out-skilled the students.

The match ended with a total score of 111-100, with the 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧𝐢 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝟏𝟏-𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭.

This game ignites their overwhelming skills and tenacity in playing basketball. The mixed employees are composed of the security management, food and services management, the technical admins, Basic Education Department Faculty, and our beloved School Director, Dr. Ernesto F. Ramirez.

Nabigo ang kuponan ng Pink Panthers (Senior High School) sa kanilang unang semi-finals game, laban sa Yellow Lions (Business Cluster), sa puntos na 23-25, 10-25.

Maganda ang momento ng Panthers sa simulang bahagi ng unang kwarter. Pinaandar ni Kesha Nicole Nayles ang kanyang ball drops na nagsilbing moda ng koponan upang makalamang at patayin ang laro ng kalaban. Ngunit pinantayan ito ng mahigpit na depensa at service aces ng Lions. Dikit ang naging laban sa gitna ng unang kwarter dahil sa mahahabang rally na ibinibigay ng bawat koponan. Subalit nanaig ang estratehiya ng Business Cluster laban sa SHS Cluster, sa puntos na 23-25.

Nagpaulan ng service aces ang Yellow Lions sa ikalawang bahagi ng laro. Pinangunahan ito ni Manito, 4 service aces at binaon ni Abalde ang score ng Pink Panthers dahil sa kanyang 9 service aces. Sinubukang basagin in Nayles ang momento ng kalaban ngunit hindi ito naging sapat upang makahabol sa layo ng agwat sa puntos, tinuldukan ng Business Cluster ang laro sa puntos na 10-25.
