The GRIP these commercials had on us 🫦

Recently rebought a copy on eBay (lord save me from all the good 90s nostalgia I’m finding there, currently scoping the cobalt blue celestial stuff) and it’s on repeat in the car. My guess is the “people who love weird s**t and our podcast” and the “people who listened to Pure Moods” Venn diagram is practically a circle. 🤝

Stay weird, Oregon!

According to the Seaside Aquarium near Cannon Beach where this deep sea football fish washed up, this may be only the 32nd football fish seen by humans.*

“Living in complete darkness, at 2,000–3,300 feet, these fish are rarely seen,” Seaside Aquarium said to Fox News. “In fact, only 31 specimens have been recorded around the world.”

*Asterisk because we know that often Indigenous accounts and sightings are discounted or not recorded. I have a hard time believing this fish has only been seen 32 times in the 160,000 years we’ve had modern Homo sapiens but I’m also not a biologist, anthropologist, or fish doctor.

Love seeing this article on . We usually cover weird Pacific Northwest stuff here on the channel, and it’s weird that grizzlies have been absent from our ecosystem for so long! I was and am proponent for wolf reintroduction to Yellowstone and then here in Washington state, and I’m excited to see this next phase of rewilding. I know this is going to be a big and uncomfortable change for outdoor recreation enthusiasts, farmers, ranchers, and more, but I really think it’s the right call for the ecosystem.
