We are very sad to inform you of the passing away of Shuman Reza on Sunday July 21 morning around 8.30 AM at the age of 54. He leaves behind his wife Fatema Khan Mumu daughter Sanjana Reza Tanaz, his mother Fayzunnessa Haroon, his brothers Zahid Reza, Shamim Reza and sister Kaniz Fatema Shoma and numerous nieces and nephews.

নিজের ‘শ্রেষ্ঠ কবিতা’ বইয়ের ভূমিকায় সুবোধ সরকার লিখেছেন, “...আমি একটা জেদ নিয়ে বেঁচে আছি যে কবিতার শরীর থেকে সব গয়নাগাটি খুলে ফেলব। তাতে যদি কবিতা মার খায় খাক। এ কাজ আমার আগে অনেকে করে গেছেন। আমি আর একবার করব। কবিদের জন্যেও একটা ‘লক্ষ্মণরেখা’ আছে। সেটা মেনে চলতে হয়। কিন্তু কেন মেনে নেব? কেন আমি অন্যের জামা পরব? কেন আমি অন্যের থালায় খাব? ভিখিরিরও একটা নিজস্ব থালা থাকে।”

It is with a very heavy heart and great sadness I share with you the passing away of our great Dada, Subarna Barua’s husband Anjan Barua, this morning at his home in his sleep, Friday, June 21st. He was 56. Please pray for his departed soul, may God give his family the strength and bless with patience. He will be greatly missed.
